Forcing 130GB update

Just installed MSFS on a new PC. However I moved over an internal SSD containing all of the “Official” folders and subfolders from my old PC into my new PC (145GB worth of MSFS files). I’ve done this before and it’s worked fine and saved a TON of time.

However, after installing the base game to the C drive and firing it up, it’s saying it needs to download a 130GB update. How is this possible? That’s almost the size of the entire simulator. Every single file needs to be updated?

Sometime seems wrong here.

Hi @SinfulDanTheMan,
That screenshot does not say where MSFS is installing the files to. Possibly MSFS is not seeing the Official folder on your moved SSD, and so is installing to the default folder on the C: drive.

You could use Resource Monitor to see where files are being written to.

@SinfulDanTheMan

not sure if this is relevant, but is the last line in your UserCFG.opt pointing to the correct location?
(should point to the correct packages location)

It seems that you may have forgotten to edit the usercfg.opt file, specifically the last line. This line is crucial as it points to the directories for the Official and Community folders. For example, if you previously moved MSFS to the D drive into a folder named MSFS, the last line in the usercfg.opt file should look like this:

InstalledPackagesPath "D:\MSFS"
