ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
After I got my certification I tried the first fire fighting mission. When you click on the mission it wont load the mission, but CTD.

Also same here. I haven’t had any other CTDs elsewhere in the sim, but when I choose the first firefighting mission, it consistently crashes

I found a solution at least it worked for me.

My Spec:
AMD7800X3D
RTX4080
32GB
Alien 34 3440x1440

My settings WITH the CTD had been Ultra preset, TAA with live weather checked with the exception of:

  1. Terrain Level of Detail and Objects Level of Detail 150
  2. Traffic Airport Quality and Air Traffic OFF
  3. Under Online Settings: Aircraft Traffic Type OFF

Now I wanted to try to blockwise turn off stuff or reduce some settings. My first test was successfull. Here is what I have changed (keep the settings above) and after that I had no CTD:

1.Under Online: Live weather set to OFF
2. Under Graphics: Raytraced Shadows OFF
3. Under Graphics: Road Traffic OFF
4. Under Graphics: Sea Traffic OFF
5. Under Graphics:Fauna OFF

After those changes I had no CTD on that mission anymore after having it all the time. Give that a shot if you have CTDs on other missions as well.

Report back, I really would like to know whether this fixed stuff for you. So I can do some more testing in case it did not.

EDIT 1: Had the Tornado mission again and with those settings I could complete it. Although I still got a reputation hit, but at least no CTD.

EDIT 2: If it does not work try the lowest graphic settings and work your way up.

EDIT 3: It really turns out to be a setting issue as MSFS2024 is not optimized at all. It worked on all mission errors/CTDs I have encountered. And it really depends on your individual hardware setup. Stronger systems can go higher as lower-end systems. That means what you have to turn off in the settings may vary from user to user.
I had another the mission “First Flight”, when yoy buy your first Aircraft withing your company. Got an error message (no CTD). Then I reduced again the settings (see above) and I could fly the mission without the error message.

Correction: With the lowest possible Graphic Settings it works… :slight_smile:

@MSteinhardt ok at least we know it is a setting thing probably depending on the individual hardware setup. May I asked what CPU GPU and RAM configuration you have?

Setting global graphics to the lowest settings, made my missions that would always CTD, finally load! Thanks!

That worked for me too. Global Low-End settings (and nothing change there) + what @Grogu4333 added. Of course with rank drop.

I’m not sure it is a hardware thing. After repeated attempts, I was able to get in. The only thing I changed in that last attempt was to set myself up as administrator in Steam.

It is not hardware. It is a software issue. On the Tornado mission with Cessna GCaravan, just before the CTD, I had this appearing in the mission experience report:

You got this wrong. Yes it is a software thing, because MSFS2024 is bugged and not optimized. So actually we should all be fine running those missons with our hardware, but some optimization problem within the softwar can not handle some specific settings yet. You need to see this together your system and the software at its current state.

Did you run it at lowest setting? Just for testing?

Iam still getting the reputation hit, but not CTD. It worked on other missions as well which had a CTD before.

Already went from A to B in the reputation in one shot. If I’m still loosing it even with your settings advice, then I think I will just wait that they fix it before running below C !!! Because regaining it back take some time… and I do not have it, sorry

Yes exactly, I noticed this too in the tornado-mission… NaN xp.
I was running on ultra for a few dozen hours before and just recently optimized some visual settings (lowering them). Did a few missions without problems. But this (tornado) mission crashed. For me, the correlation is the NaN xp thing.
