FPS drop if I click outside MSFS?

Tonight I did several tests with the new RTX 3070 which arrived today.

I noticed that as soon as I click on the second monitor (for example to use LNP or Navigraph) I have a drop of around 10-15 FPS. I’m not sure if it happened before, but I would say no: I would have noticed it, I think.

PS: it is not only the display of the FPS that changes, the performance of the SIM declines.

Any suggestions?

Hey there. I have this issue since release msfs. With my 2080 ti and now with my 3080 ti

I have the issue as well, I assume it’s related to how the graphic card handles dual screens and 3D apps. It’s not drastic but if I do something on the 2nd monitor I see MSFS slow slightly. I figured the GPU puts more effort into the active 3D screen, and if I go over to the other screen it has to divide the resources some. Thats what I assumed anyway, not sure if it’s a MSFS bug. I also have wallpaper engine, so if MSFS doesn’t have focus they activate again putting load on my GPU. I’d imagine with the demand MSFS puts on the GPU it wants all the resources it can get. There is an NVidia or Windows setting to reduce frame rates on background programs. (forget which, maybe someone else can remember where to find it. I’m on my tablet right now and can’t check.) Pretty sure this will have an effect when changing focus from the sim.

That’s right, though it’s that option is disabled (it shouldn’t limit the FPS of background apps).
However, the problem seems to appear a bit random: tonight, for example, it was almost imperceptible :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
