I know that this issue has been discussed in different topics with different solutions provided which neither of them has worked for me. I’ve decided to create a new topic though, since the workaround I’ve found to resolve the fps drop during long flight has not been covered anywhere else (or at least I couldn’t find it ;).
To start, let me explain how this issue emerges in my situation. I sometimes fly from my hometown, Toronto to Vancouver and vice versa. This is approximately a 4:0 - 4:45 flight with B737.
Always after around 3 hours into the flight, my FPS drops from somewhere around 60 to somewhere close to 30 and this continues all the way until landing with sometimes even down to 25 in Toronto. I have an i9-9900K with 32 Gig of RAM as well as an RTX3080Ti running on ultimate graphic settings with LOD set to 200.
Now for the workaround, after takeoff, I go to options, generals, data, and turn photogrammetry OFF. After the 3 hours passed and the FPS drop hit, I then go back to options and turn it back on and guess what, boom, FPS jumps back to around 60 and stays there or to a minimum of 45 in Toronto (which is normal based on my spec) until the end of the flight.
Now the reason I posted this is to, A: check with other fellow simmers to see if this would be of any help for them as well and B: if this is actually the cause for the FPS drop, will Asobo do anything about it?
Cheers all,
