When making changes to get the most out of your system in VR it is difficult to get a basic indicator like an FPS reading in view in VR. In Developer mode the performance window is situated outwith the VR field of view. Using a third-party feature, like the Oculus panel, fills an very large area of the FOV unecessarily. Why not a simple monitor mini-HUD showing a few select parameters?
Try one offered by steam I think it was <5 bucks and is nice
Shift-z is freeware and let you see fps in vr.
But dev mode in vr would be nice.
Thanks, I didn’t know about this freeware add on and it’s customizable too. Looks like a great tool.
fpsVR buy it on Steam its about £3 gives a lot of vr related info in vr. It’s unobtrusive, you can adjust where the information is displayed, what info is displayed, it can be shown on desktop and/or in vr, it works for all steamvr apps/games not just msfs.

This MOD can meet your needs. And it doesn’t take up space.
Nice I will have to check that one out. Would be nice to be able to see in VR.
Hey dburne…fancy bumping into you here. I’ve been on msfs exclusively for the last 6 months, really like it!
Trying to figure out how to move Shift+Z stats where I’m looking to get specific area accurate fps in VR?
Other than that it works very well.
ADDED: Stats can now be moved freely in VR mode (press ctrl and click on stats).
But it doesn’t follow your head movement automatically.
Just with people recommending fpsVR - worth pointing out that while I agree it’s a fantastic tool, as things currently stand it will only work if using steam’s OpenXR runtime and not if using eg the windows WMR native OpenXR runtime.
Any attempt to run it alongside another non steam based VR runtime will result in steamVR being closed and fpsVR with it.
ADDED: New user configurable parameter: “ISATemp”.
Does anyone know how this works?
Hey yeah good to see you - I am getting more into MSFS 2020 now it is gorgeous for sure. Still split my time with couple of other combat flight sims as well.
Please upvote! We need this!!!
Thanks- I will definately check it out once I get the sim working again following the recent update..
Done, definitely need it.
The Devmode FPS counter/performance graphs are very useful for gauging what is holding back performance, even more so in VR where maximizing performance and frametimes is of utmost importance. Unfortunately the FPS counter is not visible properly in VR, you only see a tiny portion of it.
Would it be possible to make it clearly visible in VR?
The issue with all these tools is they don’t show the mainthread, rdrthread etc frametimes. They should really just enable the dev mode counter for VR.
In the meantime you can use the openXR toolkits fps counter. It also has split stats for cpu gpu draw threads and more depending how detailed you set it.
Unfortunately the Toolkit one has a bug where the GPU one is always 0 or something. In any case, I much prefer The detailed dev mode one.
They just needed to move it a few pixels left and down, how hard can it be?
They know you’re in VR so it’s a matter of checking that and adding the new position. How much time does that take? 10-20 minutes with testing?
