Framerate change

This afternoon, i started MSFS and noticed real choppy play. Noticed that framerate was running at 12 FPS when I usually have at least 58, due to framerate limiting at 60 FPS. Can’t figure out what happened or where to begin. As far as I know, nothing was changed, just a sudden drop in the FPS. Can’t reemerge where I set framerate limit to 60. Any help?

Few things you can try

It could just be a slow connection to server?

People are saying turning off multiplayer and ai traffic has helped alot

“Some” people are also saying ENABLING HAGS has increased their fps

Check background apps…

Did you update the Nvidia drivers? I have found when you update them it will sometimes reset all your settings…

Thanks! Server connection? Possibly, but my provider is currently running at 920Mbps. I don’t use multiplayer and only a low AI traffic setting. I may give HAGS a try, but earlier in the day, all was well running at 55 - 60 FPS. Nothing in settings was changed between that time and a few hours later when I restarted the machine and opened MSFS for another flight. Nvidia driver was updated when the new rev was issued, but that was several days ago. My GPU settings (a 3090) appear to be unchanged. The MSFS Graphics settings also appear to be intact. I wish I could remember where I set the FPS Limit, I don’t see that setting in the Graphics options.Very puzzling. Thanks for the quick reply, however!

Think you’ll find that the FPS limit is now a percentage of your monitors output rather than a number e.g. on my system the monitor is set to 60HZ via the Nvidia control panel so the sim setting is on 100%. Gives me a locked rate of 60fps. Not sure how/when that changed 'cos like you I had it set to 60fps in the sim settings before.
TBH I don’t know if that’s the way it’s supposed to work, it just does!

No.
Its not you, your settings, or NVIDIA graphics drivers, or tweaking or etc etc.
Its not your addons. Its not your apps.

Its Asobo. Pure and simple. I have my setup running really well and BOOM out of nowhere…
Complete stutter fest. It does not matter what I have or don’t have installed.
I am 38000 feet in the air with a PMDG 737 that gives me 30 fps at KJFK with traffic.
Mid flight to KBOI and it goes all the way down to 5fps. Sometimes 10.

Its not you, its Asobo. I tried the connections, online, TLOD, graphic settings to low or zero. Doesnt make a difference. My internet is working just fine.
Its not your internet.

IT IS Asobo.

Instead of adding more garbage planes to the sim and updating a crummy airport, they need to focus 100% on fixing these bugs.

This is has been an issue since a few releases.

As an experiement, I had everything off. LOD/TLOD all at 50, no traffic, no ai, no multiplayer, all apps off. No overclock.
Only the PMDG 737 flying from a default airport to another.

Out of nowhere. Boom. FPS loss and doesn’t come back.

I think I am going to do something else for a long while.

Don’t get me wrong, just a silly thought.
Does it still happen if you are flying something other than the PMDG737? It’s just that you seem to have covered everything else…

Not a silly thought. Its a good question. I did not really think about that because this issues is so random.
I guess I should fly another airliner for a bit and get back to you.
Bae 146, FBW or the CRJ…or maybe the DC6…
