Brief description of the issue:
After installing update 1.17.3.0 I am now getting framerate tanking in the UI World Map. Seems to only happen in the United States region. When scrolling around the map and selecting locations, after a short time my framerate would tank. Normally I get 100+ FPS in the UI. It would tank down to 6-10 FPS.
The first time it happened I carefully got back to the main menu and was able to close the game. I reloaded the game and framerate was back to normal. I went back into the world map and continued my scrolling around and clicking locations in the United States region and the problem returned. I found that if I scrolled far enough N/S/E/W or zoomed in or out far enough the framerate would return to normal eventually. I would continuously get these drops in framerates as I scrolled around viewing locations in the US.
This didn’t seem to be an issue in other parts of the world, but I didn’t test that thoroughly. I did install the new World Map V content.
This started happening only after installing the 1.17.3.0 update. I play the game daily.

What I notice is that the GPU utilization goes from 85, 90 or 100% to 5%. I so far tried with Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling ON and OFF but still get the problem. What is interesting is that, as Strayborne said, it’s happening while navigating the World Map particularly in the US.
I’ve also noticed it will persist into the rest of the menu system once it starts while you’re on the world map. It’ll just come and go, tanking down to 6-10 FPS and then just return to normal 100+, and then back down again as I move though the menu system. It only starts though once I’ve been to the world map over the US. Not exactly sure what’s triggering it and what is causing it to persist. The only sure way I’ve been able to get it to completely stop is close and reopen the game. The menu system will be fine until I got back into the world map again.
For anyone that would like to see exactly what I am describing, I have done a video capture of what is going on. If you watch the whole thing you will see when it is happening, and how it is happening, and how it changes. You will want to watch it in 1440p so that you can clearly see the FPS readout.
What I’m reporting is not an in-sim flying problem. I’m having no problems while flying. What I’m reporting is for the UI menu system and its world map module. The video clearly shows that.
