Free flight aircraft selection

This might be in the “really stupid question” category, but:

I am struggling with having to “redefine” my free flight aircraft selection every time I start a new flight. For instance: I have been flying the C172 almost exclusively. But every time I start a new flight, it default back to the “Asobo - Cargo” variant. So every time I have to laboriously

  • Click on the “Configure” option,
  • scroll and select the appropriate variant (just the regular G1000 in my case),
  • click “Save and Back”
  • This takes me back to the aircraft screen so I have to click “Save and Back” again.
  • Annoyingly, my selection does not always “stick” the first time. I sometimes have to repeat this to make sure my selection is actually saved correctly.

This seems rather silly. In 2020, the aircraft selection “stuck”, so no added stuff to do. With 2024 I am now required to go through the above rigmarole every time, sometimes twice. Disappointingly in this process I have accepted that selected tail numbers do not stick either.

I have looked but I am not seeing any way to change the default configuration. Am I missing something?

I must say I am quite curious about the lack of responses here. I can only assume it must be one of two things:

  • Nobody else has this issue or
  • Other people have it as well but it is not of concern to them

Hoping someone would chime in…
