Freedom Fox (Trent Palmer's Kitfox) by developer Parallel 42

Sometimes VR gives false impressions on size and volume compared to a flat video

I just want to make sure after the latest update which includes the SU8 propeller, by installing the mod will revert back to the old. The default with no mods is using the new propeller physics.

That is correct.

Thank you. It doesnā€™t seem so complicated but was curious as to why the old physics was still even an option but letting us choose is good thing.

I hate glass cockpits and even I love it (and the Kodiak 100!). Enough said!

There are multiple engine mods in the Mod Manager. We offer Stage 1 and 2 with the new physics and we also offer the old ones for people who donā€™t like the new prop physics. Make sure to read all your options in the Mod Manager.

I did, thank you and keep up the great job.

Quick question about the engine mods: Should there only be one installed at a time, or is the stage 2 mod dependent on stage 1?

Only one stage should be installed.
With stage2 installed with new prop, the plane constantly turning right and there is no way how to trim. Before update it was fine.
I thing itā€™s the new prop with torgue effect on this powerfull engine mod.

Only one at a time.
With this new update, The Mod Manager will make sure you only have one installed.

Exactly, thatā€™s why you still have the old physics available for all variants in the Mod Manager

A little tip: the one wheel mounted on the wing struts actually seems to affect the flight model: the right turning tendency is less pronounced with the one wheel removed.

You can remove it with one of the two switches on the lower right of the dashboard. The other one opens and closes the engine cover when you are on the ground. I canā€™t remember which does which off the top of my head.

Also of noteā€¦ Weā€™ve added fixed trim tabs to Fox 2 (Stage 1 and 2) so the aircraft flies straight in cruise.

New update!

First of all, I want to thank all the developer of this amazing bush plane. Like many have mentioned, this plane is excellent and really fun to fly. I love the mod idea, it make it feel like we have our own custom plane. I have read a couple of comments here but not all of them, so sorry if this was asked before.

Can someone on the dev. team please answer me those questions?

  1. Is this plane work with the Working Title G3X mod?

  2. How much is realistic to have the stage 2 engine tuning installed?

  3. I have noticed that there is not any key for startup for the airplane or breaker, is this true to real life?

Some issue in VR:

A. Very Blurry instruments names and buttons:

The label on some of the instruments (like the autopilot) are very bright, almost like if it was instrument light which I suspect this is not the case in real life. This make all those label on the cockpit panel look overly bright which become a blurry smudge in VR. I use a Quest 2 at max resolution. Would it be possible to use a less bold font and reduce the brightness?

B. Instrument focus is to strong (zooming like our nose is in the instruments) and absent for the main Garmin screen.

C. Propeller is creating artifacts when using ASW/reprojection:

I know that there is a fix on flightsimto for other airplane, but the person doing that have not done this plane so far. The mod is called VR FRIENDLY PROP MOD. BufordTX, the person doing this mod explain that it is somewhat easy to do, but I donā€™t think I would be able too. Would it be possible for you guys to check if it can be added to the mod installer?

Again, all my gratitude to you for your amazing product and thank you for your precious time.

Fly safe.

Hi!

  1. Yes, it works with the Working Title G3X mod.
  2. Comparable to what Draco was to the Wilga. Way overpowered and a creature that shouldnā€™t exist in the real world! Stage 1 is a more close-to-reality mod.
  3. The real aircraft doesnā€™t have a key. It is based on a Trent Palmerā€™s real Kitfox: https://www.youtube.com/c/TrentPalmer1/videos

For the VR issues you are noticing, I will bring it up to the team!

Thank you so much to have taken the time to answer me and fast on top of that! When devs are like this it really make us feel confident in their product. Wonderful news about the VR. I hope the team will figure out something.

If you ever need a beta tester for the Quest 2 platform, I would be very interested. Iā€™m good with attention to details. Iā€™ve previously helped a bit Anthony Lynch from Antā€™s Airplane on his amazing drifter. He has made some adjustment for VR in his last update for that ultra light aircraft.

What a great community we are.

It would be cool to have an installable prop mod available in the Freedom Fox Mod Manager for us VR uses who like to use motion reprojection.

The best solution is to fix it altogetherā€¦ Is it something that can be captured on video so we can figure out whatā€™s going on?

@runshotgun - The best resource I can point you to is @BufordTX 's prop mods on flightsim.to.

Take a look at his full product description. He provides an excellent explanation of the wobbly prop phenomenon in VR when motion reprojection is enabled. He also provides an explanation of why it happens and how heā€™s gone about fixing the prop animations.

EDIT: PSā€¦ I absolutely LOVE this aircraft!! Thank you for your efforts.
