[Freeware] Really Cool VFRmap

No don’t think so. But I can run events tracker on an iPad. For some reason I can’t get access to the url for lnm. Also lnm gives all the ils feathers etc.

Does this map show all airports prominently? Like the default in-game map.
I find it very helpful to see the large icons for the airports on the default map.

No. Not really.

That’s a shame. Although I suppose it’s something that could be added at a later date as the add-on improves over time.

I know you can create your own custom layers to the map, but that would involve inputting every airport/dirt strip in the world into it. Quite a task!

The App use the Open Street Map resources not Bing Maps
Still, Bing gets data from Open Street Map servers, from time to time, so …

From my few days experience, flying in Belgium, what I see in the app is what I get in FS ( not the game :joy: )

Your video was good but I have downloaded the VFRmap but don’t know how to open it in MSFS. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Gunk

I haven’t used it so only guessing here but I suspect it runs on a url. So you run it from a browser in a separate window 🤷🏻

That is a stand-alone application.
Please follow the set up steps below, make sure to follow steps 3 and 4 and the right order, as the app need FS to run

Setup Guide ( taken from the developer site, with my editing)

1. Download the latest version from Github

Releases · lian/msfs2020-go · GitHub

2. Extract the archive to a folder
3. Start a flight in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
4. Run the VRFmap.exe, a black console window (CMD Windows) should open
5. Open your favorite Internet Browser, and enter in the address bar the location:
http://localhost:9000
  • Try http://_the_IP_of_your_PC_where_App_run:9000 if that doesn’t work or on another PC/Tablet on the same network

I am here for more basic help, for feedback/bugs about the app, use the Issues on Github

This tool is great, love the teleport function. Teleport in the SIM is very buggy, but using teleport with this Map everythings works great. There is an option to activate Navigation Data, but only VFR. Missing an overlay IFR Map, and everything would be great !

Best extern MOD so far !

Yes, IFR map, we all wait for :pray:t2:
First finish ATC and then to move all the ground stuff that stand in-front of the aircraft with engine running :joy:

How do you get the map window on top of FS window? when I click on FS window the map goes into background!

If you use Firefox you can install the Always on Top add-on.

Or install a program called TurboTop which will keep any program of your choosing on top of all other windows.

Both options are free. :+1:t2:

A nice Tips pop-up that was added in Parch 1.8.3.0, showing when VPRmap connected to FS

Hi all,

has anybody an idea how to get it working on an Android tablet?
Mick

Sure, launch the exe on your PC, then open the browser in your tablet and go to http://the-ip-of-your-PC-where-you-run_exe:9000, and there you go.
i.e. http://192.168.0.11:9000
as long as your PC and tablet are on the same network, it should work out of the box. There could be a chance you need to open port 9000 on your PC, but I had not to.

Cheers

Not working here,
Most likely due to my Firewall system dropping the connection

SO go to your firewall and create a rule for port 9000

Thanks for the tip dear, I now my way around firewall systems
Still, valid tip for people with one monitor and an nice size table!!! ( Android or any other OS )

I tried doing that but when I click on the exe file. The black window opens for 1/2 a second and disappears.

Do I need to do something with the firewall ?
