There are so many great freeware libraries of airports parts, cars, campers, canoes, trucks, signs, etc., but I haven’t found any scenery related libraries, like trees, bushes, rocks, etc.
Does anyone know of any? I have checked flightsim.to. The default trees leave a lot to be desired.
Checkout BIJAN HABASHI - 4 SEASON PACK V4.62 - MSFS on Simarket. Okay it’s payware but in my, and many others, opinions this is probably the best addon yet for MSFS. He’s taken all the trees, as well as other items throughout the world, and converted them to a much greater realism than the sim itself could manage. But the real benefit is that the addon consists of four separate seasons throughout the world (you need to load them only one at a time though or you get problems - no sweat) which completely transforms the visual experience.
What’s more, the author works on it constantly (in his spare time) and puts out free updates at least 2-weekly. He also takes suggestions and requests and incorporates those too if possible.
Far and away the best addon available for MSFS - incredible value for money.
I have both the 4 Season Pack and the Trees, Boats, etc. mods, they are great!
But I’m not talking about mods, I’m talking about libraries of models. I am developing my own freeware scenery and I am looking for tree models specifically to put into the scenery. There are a bunch of great libraries for everything else, like cars, boats, trucks, things you need for airports, signs, etc. etc. etc. But I haven’t found a good library of trees, for example, various palms, eucalyptus, pines, aspens, cactus, etc. I did find one recently called Emerald Object Library, but I haven’t had a chance to check it ou.
I guess I’m just surprised at all the great libraries for other objects, but not much for natural scenery (that I have found yet).

Make your own libraries,
Downloaded a bunch of these, import in Blender, save the objects , compile the library and you are some
Thanks! I have thought about that and installed and worked with Blender a bit, but haven’t had the time to look into it. I especially haven’t figured out how to do multiple LOD versions of the same model. I know it just takes some reading and experimenting, just haven’t had the time. It IS probably the best way to go though.

I think the reason we don’t have foliage libraries is how outrageously polygon heavy foliage can be.
Every time I’ve pondered it I couldn’t find anything that wasn’t an absolute monstrous storage hog. One tree often had more tris than entire airports. I guess it needs a different approach.
Bijan Studios has done a good job, their whole library is 200mb. Not many others have.

Actually lods are Easy, you can duplicate the mesh and than use a decimate modifier to reduce vertex Number, and in the lowest lods you can delete branches and leaves
I don’t use bjian addon, but latest trees looks like 3d ones, not Asobo standards
Proper trees made like Asobo does are to me very difficult to make, docs on them as been released recently
Yes. There’s that too. Many of the trees I’ve download from places like 3dwarehouse were absolutely terrible. I’d prefer to have no tree.
The problem with using the Bijan library is that, unless you get permission and license his stuff, users would have to have purchased his product and have it installed.
I have Bijan Seasons. But I disabled the Seasons (Addon Linker) to work on my scenery and get the default Biomes considering people don’t have this addon…
So I added a polygon to my scenery with a specific Biome to get a few conifer trees in a corner but the built scenery package Crashed MSFS…
Now I did this poly + Biomes in another scenery before purchasing Bijan and it was Ok so I think even if disabled, the Season package modify the Biomes in MSFS perhaps.
So now I think it’s safer to get 3D trees and plant them in this corner instead of relying on a polygon with a Biome assigned to it.
Try CGtrader.com they have a “free” section, most are royalty free even if you want to use in Payware.
