As FS 2024 always generates a random registration for my aircraft, I wanted to change it in the customise options in the aircraft selection menu. As I didn’t want it to have any registration, I deleted the previous callsign and just added a blank space. The sim already didn’t like it there, but it didn’t freeze at that point. I then went back to the main aircraft selection menu, where the sim then froze. I couldn’t kill it with Alt+F4 and had to use Steam to close it. When I restarted the sim it froze again, this time on the first screen after the loading screen, a few seconds after it appeared.
I then tried clearing my cache and updating my video driver, but the problem persisted. I then did a complete reinstall of the sim and deleted all the files that were still there after the reinstall (“Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024” in AppData Roaming). I also rebooted my computer several times and switched between the stable release and the beta release, also without success. The Windows Event Viewer doesn’t show any problems around the time of the freeze.
As most of the problems I had before were fixed after this stage, I don’t really know what else I can do at this point. From the sequence of events with the aircraft registration, I assume it has something to do with that. However, I don’t really know how to change the registration if I can’t get there in the sim, as I haven’t found an option in the configuration files.
