Freezing in Mid Flight

My MSFS is freezing in Mid-flight. It nothing happens when at Departure and climb. But when It reaches cruise lvl I mostly afk or watch moviues. But when I go back to check the cockpit. Its froze like a Photo.
I can hear the airplane sound at background, but cant do anything.

I don’t know if this is any help, but it seems like the sim has been paused.
Have you tried “right ctrl + P” to unpause it?
Sometimes folks have needed to cycle between “P” (Pause) and “right ctrl + P” to get the sim to unpause.

This is the same problem I’ve been having for a couple of weeks now. Almost always within 30 minutes of starting a flight, the game would freeze. The audio would continue but the video was still and according to the task manager, no GPU resources were being used by the game. The game wouldn’t crash to desktop but I still had to use the task manager to stop it. But then I realized that a new Nvidia driver was released on October 12th (v522.25), roughly corresponding to when I started experiencing this issue. I rolled my drivers back to the September 20th, 2021 release (v472.12) and haven’t yet experienced this issue again but I’m not positive yet that this has fixed the problem. I need to play more to be sure.

So, if: 1) You’re on PC and; 2) Have an Nvidia GPU then I would try rolling back your driver from the latest release to a previous version. I wasn’t paying enough attention and thought the driver I was rolling back to was from September of this year, but using the previous version (v517.41) is hopefully sufficient. There might just be something with the latest driver (v522.25) that is causing this issue for some.

Same issue for me.
I will try to roll back my Nvidia driver.

Many thanks Yakkingtonn

No problem! But don’t thank me just yet, haha. I’m still not positive it’s fixed the issue for me, though it’s looking promising.

The sim is completely not responding, you can’t even close the game… it’s a Nvidia driver bug… causes the game to freeze.

As soon as I downloaded the last est driver (522.25), the sim was frezzing after 15min into a flight. Same thing with the studio driver (522.30).

And as soon as I downloaded the last driver (517.48), the game was very stable, and was able to fly for 3h without problems.

The game is stable now after rollout :slightly_smiling_face:

I was having the same problem with 522.25. Has anyone in this thread tried 526.47 yet?

Hi All,

same for me. After switch back to Nvidia driver version 517.48 game works fine again.

Hi, I am using XBOX and my flight just froze afer 35 minutes. Any advice for XBOX users?
Thanks!

I now have the same problem, at about the 35 min mark on the XBOX X, the video freezes, sound continues. The only choice is to quit the game.
A restart of the console & deleting the Rolling Cache didn’t help. On the second attempt at the flight, it froze at the same time / location. This issue only started yesterday, with no updates or any changes.

I did that but it didn’t work.

Same issue here ever since after the last update.
Sound continues but I have to use at Task Manager to end it the process.
Sometimes it happens very early in flight sometimes much later.
Tried SAFE MODE, lowest graphic settings makes no differences.
Otherwise any other games I play are working mighty fine.

Reinstalled the game that didn’t help.
Played off line no crashes.
So something is going on with the on-line setup.

Been a while since some one posted here, but I am getting this same issue of sim freezing. I have reset my windows. re-downloaded all add-ins. What is interesting is that I am seeing this happening in both 2020 and 2024. Has anyone found the solution? is it really the nvidia driver?
