Frozen Lago Maggiore?

Just flew from Courchevel via Locarno to Hohenems only to find that large parts of the Lago Maggiore were frozen (hasn’t happened in real life in the last hundreds of years, why now? Especially with global warming!) whereas Lake Constance was completely ice free. Makes no sense whatsoever.Generally I really enjoy MSFS winter settings but the state of “frozeness” is something to be fixed.

Yeah that’s normal. It’s been a problem since the beginning. Just check the search function and you’ll find several threads concerning snow coverage, snow on water, snow on roads and runways, etc.

Winter doesn’t work all that well. And the lake isn’t frozen. (Unrealistically) that’s snow on the water. So the surface will still behave like water when you land on it.

It’s one of the things topping the list for the next sim update according to Jörg Neumann.

For now you can fix the problem by making a custom weather setting that includes a certain level ground snow. That way the ground will be covered in white, but the rivers and lakes will be water again.

The snow in FS is completely broken.
Use custom wheater settings

Yes, but the problem is that you can’t take over the real weather otherwise.
So you have the choice between real weather with absolutely unrealistic snow behavior (snow at 500m when in reality everything is green except for 2500m and frozen lakes that have not frozen for over 50 years) or reasonably realistic snow but no real-time weather.
Asobo it would be really nice if you would actively tackle this problem. If, like me, you live in a region that is affected by this problem, this is really :face_vomiting:
