In 2020 I fly airliners exclusively. I have not yet purchased 2024 and am wondering how you find ATC. Is it a lot better than 2020 i.e. more realistic? How does the World Map flight planning compare, is it at least as functional as 2020? Also, one youtuber described the sim as ‘gamey’ compared to 2020. Opinions?
I am holding off purchase until things are running more smoothly, but depending on what I can find out, maybe it’s not the sim for me. Faults aside I am pretty happy with 2020, it is amazing.

LOL. They made it even worse in FS2024. Audio is constantly dropping, ATC sometimes goes into berserk mode asking you to climb 2,000 every 30 or so seconds. They increase cruise altitude every time so after a few minutes they wanted me to climb to FL700!
Don’t expect any improvements to ATC any time soon. Thankfully Beyond ATC works in FS2024 and it finally has traffic!

The only improvements I noticed is ATC voices, when they work they are much better than before. And ATC recognises SID procedure in your flight plan. They mention the procedure name when giving you IFR clearance but still ignore altitude restrictions during climb.

My original thought when 2024 released was that I’d wait a few months and then buy it. I might end up waiting much longer.
They don’t want a user-friendly ATC in 2024 either! When I open the message window, why don’t I only see the messages that are being sent to me??? Because that would be reasonable? Meanwhile I’m communicating with other aircraft and I can’t even scroll to where the message for me is, because the message queue keeps scrolling to another place. Why can’t I close the ATC window with the same control button I open it with? I am forced to click with my mouse to close it. ATC continues to rudely use the back and forth sending to two different heights for no reason. Ascend to X descend to Y, back and forth every minute. It was the same in 2020! We expect solutions to simple problems within a reasonable time!
As others have said, ATC is a mess. Hope they fix it soon, but I doubt it. I had to buy BATC.
Working Title has been creating a new ATC program for MSFS2024 for some time now.
It was not ready when FS2024 was released, but it is to be included in a future update.

So that means in one of the future updates we will get a brand new ATC engine in FS24?
