I’ve been updating it for 3 days. I’ve tried all the solutions offered in the community. fs-base-cgl-0.1.62.fspatch downloads the file again and again . I can’t solve the problem, can you share your experiences with people who have experienced and found a solution to this problem ?
Hi, I am getting the same thing with pc-fc-base-bigfiles-0.1.129.fspatch upgrading on release 1.15.7.0.
Since yesterday night, the upgrade runs around 1,95 GiB to 2,2GiB (from 0% to 2% of this file) as part of the 17,81GiB total, then returns looping to 0% of this file, and so on.
Any way to work around this bug ?
I had this problem and found a suggestion in the forum to download and install NetLimiter and set FS to a limited bandwidth. I had the in-game bandwidth limit set to 40 Mb/s, so I set NetLimiter to 30 Mb/s. That fixed it. Do you have a bandwidth limit set in the game?
I don’t remember, but perhaps, and cannot verifiy, as the game launcher switches directly to the upgrade task, verifing then begining to download to install.
It is possible, because on my side I have only 7 Mb/s and the download is around 5 Mb/s
I just tried this tip on the bigfile (part1) https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016844080?input_string=retrying+pc-fc-base-bigfiles-0.1.129.fspatch+download+0-2%25%2C+upgrading+on+release+1.15.7.0
I will try, I just rebooted now.
[up] The file download goes until 4%, then unfortunately then loops, restarting at 0% ![]()
Thank you !
I had the same problem of infinite loop during update.
I live in France and i have adsl connexion at about 15 MBS. My setting about internet bandwich was on 20MBS. But one time, because of several person using in the same time internet, i decided to set to 5mbs in FS2020 settings. In game this was ok but when time to update came, my update was looping to 0% at the exact moment the speed of download reached… 5mbs. All the time downloading was under 5mbs, files of the update downloaded well and installed well too.
It’s seems to be a bug and that is why installing a netlimiter seems to solve the problem, but you must set limit under the value in the setting of FS2020.
In my case, staying behind the screen during the update and pressing Pause/resume allowed the update to install correctelly, keeping in mind you must press Pause/resume before the value of downloading reach the" dead value" of bandwich.
Downloading “for the fun” a big linux iso file at the same time can help to slow downloading update, and to stay under the value that makes return to 0% when updating.
It happened to me also with several files. I quit the screen/closed the update, restarted my PC, launched the sim again and it started updating again, Now it had less files left to update. Same problem occurred but now with other files. Stopped the updating again, retarted my PC and relaunched the sim again. I repeated this I think 4 or 5 times and eventually there were just 10 files left and they were updated succesfully.
Install a program named NetLimiter and set it to a value lower than or equal to the value you set in the game. I have gigabit fiber, but I had set the in-game limit to 40 Mb/s. When downloading I would see the speed hit 41-42 Mb/s, then restart the download repeatedly. When I installed NetLimiter and set the limit for FS to 30 Mb/s I was able to complete the download.
I think there’s a glitch in the in-game bandwidth limit and it probably should be avoided until they fix it.
I had this frustrating issue for several months now too. This update round, I waited 22hours for the 22GB download to complete. Several files were looping all over from 0% again such that a normal 2h download would take now 22h for only 10 GB of 22GB and that with a 100 Mbit/s bandwith.
- Solution: I streched an old 30m LAN cable through the house and switched wifi off, that solved the issue instantly and the download completed in 20 min…
Hope this helps!
As I limited the in-game value to 5 Mbits/s, I limited Internet on NetLimiter to 4,9 Mbits/s then, the download of this bigfile is running slowly but works. Thank you for your answers.
/!\ REQUEST : I hope that one day the developers will separate access to the game options on the front page, long before and independently of launching the update download or other things like that. So, for example in my case, that I could change the values of the in-game limit before the download (for me from 5 to 20 Mbits/s)
/!\ REQUEST 2 : As the limit is only for MSFS in-game (and when downloading files), I hope the developers will fix this problem, and instead I have to limit the whole Internet bandwidth, only the bandwidth of MSFS could be limited. So that, while MSFS donwload for 2 or 3 days, my other applications could work with the rest of the Internet bandwidth.
This World Update 4 comes with huge files 22Gb! Several huge files kept looping e.g. fs-base-0.1.1xxxx.
My in-game setting was ‘Unlimited’ prior to update like most users. Instead of using netlimiter, i tried changing my router bandwith to 15Mbps, it helps to reduce the looping significantly.
I will try to remember to reduce the in-game bandwidth next round before update comes ![]()
I found an improvement this time. Large files will not loop back to 0%, instead it will loop back to 52% once download has passed that point. But some files are just too large.
Did not know having fast download speed can be a problem ![]()
I have the same problem with the file “microsoft-france-benelux-point-of-interest-0.1.5.fspackage.001”.
The pure update worked after a few hours with switching off the autotuning function and with the netlilimter.
However, I cannot download and install the POI.
I solved the problem with NetLimiter, I downloaded a total of 500 gb of data for 22 gb. this is pointless, and I will ask Asobo to account for both the loss of time and data…
What fixed it for me when I had the same problem was the Disable Window Auto-tuning tip at the zendesk link Croniat posted above.
I also encountered this, I have the game installed through the xbox app and found that opening mfs through the xbox app and leaving the xbox app open solved it.
