FS now running fine, no shutdowns. Fitted new Corsair HX1000i PSU yesterday.
I know this is old, I changed my PSU from corsiar RM850X to Asus 750W and STIFF shutting down, ONLY MSFS2020 does this
You downgraded the PSU wattage?
I found that even with my old 5800X3D and 3090 Ti and all the other peripheral devices I was seeing up to 680W total power draw (as reported by my UPS.) Thing is, thereās no way to track instantaneous spikes in power draw without a fairly sophisticated volt/amp recorder. I never had any problems with a 1000W PSU, but Iād be concerned if I only had 750W on tap.
what about the 850 watt also doing the same?
Probably need a 1000W+. Solved my issues. (Hence not having posted again in this thread for 2 years.)
actually it was the gpu thermal paste not working NOT the PSU like everyone said
Cool deal finding the issue. Do you use any temp monitors/loggers? If not, I recommend CPUID HW monitor for overall system monitoring, or good ole MSI afterburner for GPU monitoring, but I use Asus GPU Tweak III since I have an Asus card. I used the latter to find and log voltage spikes/drops before shutdowns in MSFS. Weirdly, the on Seasonic PSU I had worked fine for everything but FS. In fact, itās now powering another computer here without issue.
i used core temp, but iot wouldnt see the temps before shutdown
I had the same problem. The sim kept shutting down my computer while on the loading screen (mind you, I couldnāt even reach the main menu), and it was only for MSFS2024 that I had this problem. What I did was that I vacuumed all the components of the computer, flipped my PSU over so that the fan faced downwards, and connected the computer to itās own dedicated power outlet rather than going through a power strip.
I donāt know which one of these, or if it was a combination of all three, that fixed my problem, but so far, Iāve managed to complete several flights without the computer shutting down. Just thought I would share this here since it might help someone.
