Yesterday I was getting the hightest frame rate and the best performance I’ve ever gotten.
Woke up this morning and FS is completly gone?? If I run it from XBox app it asks for the CD.
This may help:
This does not help
Did you go to the path and had a look at it? Is the space still in use or really empty?
The question for the DVD is mainly solved by restarting the sim.
Scott
C:\Users"UserName"\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages
is empty
Just remembered that XBOX got updated yesterday
Have a look at this file:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\usercfg.opt
The last line of that file points to where the sim is installed.
For me, that path you listed doesn’t have my sim as I have mine in “D:\Flight Simulator”. If the location in that file got changed for any reason, and it has never since 2020, then I would likely see the same messages as you.
Last line of UserCfg.opt is the following…
InstalledPackagesPath “C:\Users"UserName”\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages"
but Packages is empty
And is that where your sim was installed, to your knowledge? If you had it installed in a custom location, then that would explain you current issues. If you aren’t sure, I would run a search of your entire disk(s) for the existence of the “OneStore” folder, which sits at the same level as “Community”.
You can use the following PowerShell command to scan your disk for “OneStore”:
Get-ChildItem -Path C:\ -Recurse -Name OneStore -Directory
If you have more than one drive, change “C:\” to “D:\”, and run it again.
Looking at your older posts, where you have mentioned “OneStore” it does appear you were using the default location. If that is correct, I can’t see why an XBox update would delete the contents of the “Packages” folder.
It’s probably too much to hope that it just ended up in your Recycle Bin!
Thats where it should be. I always do a default install. The PowerShell command brings back nothing.
I’m quite confident the command is correct, so in that case it really does seem to be gone for some reason. Have you had a related increase in free disk space? That would be the nail in the coffin I think, pointing to a full re-install.
Good call…yes a dramatic increase in disk space.
Sorry to hear that. It does look like a re-install is on the cards.
And the only thing that occured was an XBox app update? Was that before the sim disappeared, or after though?
Yes before. Now XBox does not show I own FS2020?. It shows a simmarket purchase 2 weeks ago but no FS2020. But Microsoft Store says I own it.
meanwhile
Ah, your digital license has disappeared. If so I can see it removing some software you don’t own, as far as its concerned, but if so that seems like a dreadful thing to force on a user.
I would get that license issue thing fixed first just in case you end up losing the sim again. The link above to the Support page has some information on that. I think I had it once, but I didn’t lose the sim. I think I ended up signing out of the XBox App, then signing back in again. The license re-appeared under my list of software in the MS Store.
I had basically the same or better opposite thing happen to me with the last SU for MSFS.
I have owned the store version, actually delivered on DVD from Aerosoft in the first week of release.
And I had it installed on a dedicated SSD of 2TB.
All the time MSStore indicated I owed the basic package and the premium addons as well.
After the last SU I no longer had the sim in the MSStore, but it showed as owned on the XBox App.
And it was installed on the main SSD, which then barely had enough room to run the OS.
And of course all the community folder items were also gone.
I had this error message a few times in the past (but not recently anymore).
I only had this when starting outside the Xbox App, f.e. via Start Menu.
In that case, the tile was there but greyed out.
If I clicked on it, the error message appeared.
If I right clicked on it, only option shown is “uninstall”.
First time I had this, I uninstalled it by mistake while clicking too fast.
Next time, however, I noted when it happened, that it also affected other MS Store titles at the same time. So I just waited. And at some point it was available again on its own.
My assumption is, that for whatever reason, the files are in need of getting authorized / licensed again (maybe due to their right management system failing or renewing or maybe re-indexing after an xbox update or anything similar).
As said, I did not have it in months, but if I ever should have it again, I think I would just try again to wait it out.
I have had a microsoft account since 1995. I never have had issues until they add XBox.
So true…Xbox
Never asked for that unwanted smog
How did you get on in the end? Did you get the license restored, and the sim re-installed?

How did you get on in the end

Yes I had to reload from scratch…no fun…Learned you don’t want to have your Community backup folder in the same path as your Community folder … lost 3 years of backups…
