FS2020 crash with NVIDIA driver 566.36 - Dec 05, 2024

Yesterday after flying all day without any problems, before shutting down the PC I installed the latest version of the NVIDIA driver 566.36 released on December 5th.

Today I ran FS2020 and it crashed after the popup you see below.

I removed the driver and installed the previous driver 566.14 on Nov 12, 2024 and FS2020 has no more problems.

I suggest you not installing the driver 566.36 from Dec 05, 2024

Just tried 566.36 with both MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 - no problems at all.

I turned off my Nvidia App GPU overclocking, and it works now. i was also having the same issue with past driver’s.

Is your FS2020 running DirectX11 or DirectX12?

It is DirectX 12

Very strange, even my FS2020 is set for DirectX12 but with the new driver 566.36 it crashes on startup instead with previous driver 566.14 it runs fine.

I just completed a two-hour flight in MSFS 2020 (DX11, TAA, Ultra settings) with the iFly 737 MAX 8 - I didn’t notice any issues. I don’t have the Nvidia app installed.

Running 566.36 driver since release, no problems with this driver, all stable and great so far on MSFS 2020 DX12. So far so good.
