I purchased the newly released KSC Scenery by TerraBuilder, which is currently only working on FS2020. So I launched FS2020.
I did not see the usual ‘Buy and Download’ option, so I clicked on ‘Buy’ then went to Content Manager to install it. I got an error message I’ve never seen before: ‘Newer Game Version Required to Update.’
- The developer doesn’t know why I’m getting that message.
- I have FS2020 and FS2024 both installed on this computer.
- I don’t understand what the message means.
- I don’t know how to manually update FS2020 - if that’s even possible. It’s always updated itself on startup in the past.
- I checked my Xbox App, and didn’t see anything that indicated that an update to FS2020 was required.
Any ideas what might be going on here, before I submit it as a bug?
Do you have all World/City updates installed ?. Maybe one of them is required, just a thought…
I’ll check that tomorrow. I was pretty religious about downloading all the WU’s in the past.
The three items you see are the only things that show up as ‘Not Installed’ in Content Manager.
If you’ve never installed one of the World/City update I don’t think it will show-up as not installed in the content manager. You need to search them 1st in the Marketplace and download it from there.
I have all the WU’s installed.
I may have to uninstall/reinstall FS2020. I’m not concerned with losing anything, since I don’t fly FS2020 any more - I’m only doing this so that KSC will eventually become available in my FS2024 Library. If I can’t get this resolved I’ll just wait for that day.
- What is the current version of FS2020?
- If it’s 1.38.2, then why isn’t the sim updating to that version when I start it?
- If it’s 1.37.19.0, then why is the scenery pack asking for 1.38.2?
This is what I see. Signing out of and back into Xbox Live didn’t fix it.

Fixed. I’d been seeing ‘Checking for Updates’ every time I launched the sim, but nothing was updated.
I opened the Xbox App and ran the ‘Repair/Verify’ tool.
The next time I launched the sim there was a mandatory update waiting.
I installed the update and was then able to install the KSC scenery.
