FS2020 Through-thelens

I just uploaded a quick and dirty (technique-wise!) camera recording through the lens of my Valve Index headset of a couple of flight clips recorded yesterday when flying some Neofly missions in the Cessna 172SP G1000 over Crete.

Mainly just to show that VR does work. Yes, it needs tweaking and some refinement, but it works and can be gorgeous a lot of the time.

Specs are given at the end of the video - which is just a couple of minutes long:

Nice vid thanks for posting.
Yeah I also am getting pretty decent results with my Reverb G2 and enjoying the heck out of flying the 172 for now. I also look forward to upcoming improvements.

I just wanted to post my settings _ I haven’t changed them from default, but I will do some tweaking over the coming days. So far I’ve had no issues (after my very first VR flight, which was stuttery) with any of the aircraft in FS2020, default or payware, but I’ve not flown any jets or big tin as yet - this sim is too gorgeous to be flying above 5.000ft or faster than 200 knots! :slightly_smiling_face:

On checking my SteamVR settings I found I had switched motion smoothing off and had reduced the custom resolution multiplier (found in SteamVR/Settings/Video/Per Application Settings) to 80% for a resolution of 2208x2452.

This was after the video recording - but I didn’t notice any difference at all in-sim.

I’m going to do some more tweaking and if things look better than they are (would be difficult to tell as they are already just fine, but I can use fpsVR and also raise in-sim option settings and see if there’s any change).

If I don’t notice any change at 100% res then I am going to reduce the refresh rate to 90Hz, go back to 80% custom res multiplier and then put the sim settings up as much as I can and see what happens.

Great video. Amazed at how well VR works even on my old Rift…
