Anyone notice that the cockpit i.e the 747 in the aerofly FS2 is more clearer than the default FS2020 747-8 flightdeck? I can see a difference in my CV1, I will be getting the G2 soon hopefully will see a larger improvement because currently in FS2020 I cannot fly in VR as it is too blurry using CV1.
hello, thanks for pointing that out, I had it set on 90 changed it to 100 and also cleaned my lenses, it was a definate improvement after I cleaned the smudges off my lenses everything is so much clearer, but I still think AFFS2 has the edge on sharpness in the flightdeck.
aerofly fs2 is just a toy for the vr people, no real weather, no traffic and a few more stuff.
ye s, it does look good, starts up quick, i bet all develoment ha sstopped now.
Nope they are pretty active and release update nearly each weeks or each ten days. They react quickly if any problem occurs. Once I had a Vulkan render problem and posted in a thread, they quickly started to talk to me in private and sent me several debug executable during a week end for testing, and finally they found the problem so a patch was available on Steam the day after. I appreciate that.
The sharpness I have in AFS2 is mainly due to texture and Supersampling as I can play at 200% in my Oculus CV1 with all settings at ULTRA (with my RTX 3070, I had SS at 150% with my previous GTX1080). For now as I have to lower all settings and can’t supersample similarly the clarity of MSFS is nowhere near AFS2 whatever cockpit I use.
If you want to know what they reach with their “toy” I suggest to try it with the 2 hours Steam refund policy. It’s plug and play so it will probably recognize and set your hotas automatically, and as menu are simple it take few tens of seconds between launching it and been on the tarmac in VR or monitor.
Cost nothing, worth to try. I play a lot with it when I want to feel smoothness of 90fps headset native.
I wish I could say great things about AeroFly other than the stellar VR performance but I can’t justify the price tag. Ground and Air traffic is non existent and it is just not rewarding to spend time in it unlike MSFS.
Too bad though cuz they are probably a small shop but the big boys are in town now (i.e. MS) so ante up. This includes X-Plane devs as well.
Not at the same graphics level than MSFS for sure. The AFS2 engine is capable of animations and ground traffics (boat, cars, people etc.) E.g. google search for the free add-on " Hawaiian Islands: Kauai & Niihau", other islands exist too. You can search also on youtube the same name and you’ll see. With included helicopters, which are very well simulated BTW according real pilots, it’s a great pleasure. I’m not a IFR guy but some seems to be happy with that part even if not complete. I’m more a casual simmer, VFR, gliders, Heli, some glass cockpit (no fps issue here), more light planes, and I search smoothness and without any stutters at all, at 90fps ASW don’t have to kick.
I think we can’t talk of other sims in MSFS forums, I’m not sure… Sorry if I broke some rules.
It’s a good barbones sim with good VR support (and CHOPPERS!) but the price for expansions and aeroplanes are way too high. I actually stopped buying expansions for it when i heard FS2020 was comming.
Also, there is a bug that they don’t fix where keyboard and controls don’t work, and you have to restart your computer like 3-4 times before it registers again, no amount of disconnect/reconnect and restarting just the sim will solve that. I have no problems with DCS, MSFS or any other flightsim with that kind of problem. That bug pretty much made me abandon it.
I never bought any planes, the included ones satisfy me in all aspect, large range. For add-on I only bought North USA and Switzerland (very nice one), the other official ones I took was free (South USA HD texture, UTAH, Q400 & Colorado). I recently added the free Hawaiian Islands from the community which are really precise, to not say the best of all. Enough for the fun.
Oh, and never had this bug, did you try posting in their forum? as I said each time I had an issue they fixed it really quickly.
MSFS indeed beats Aerofly in many areas, but boy… the performance is outstanding in Aerofly. VR is excellent, and the A320 (default one) is better than the one Asobo has. The best for me is that we can choose. Do you want fast loading times and outstanding performance? Aerofly. Do you want better visuals (although I took off in AFS2 from Innsbruck using Orbx airport and OMG!), weather, etc.? MSFS.
Btw, AFS2 has improved a lot the planes in the lastest months.
They announced in the forums that the new Aerofly is coming very soon, and the list of features is excellent. Great times for sim fans!
