Fs2024 - amd fsr 3

FS2024
SU2 1.4.11.0
Current AMD Driver - 25.3.2
I just tried the FSR3 option on my RX 7900 XTX .

  1. Anti Aliasing = TAA
    Frame Generation = None
    I normally fly.

  2. Anti Aliasing = TAA
Frame Generation = AMD FSR 3
This triples my FPS and the graphics look great.
    The Cockpit screen is clear.

  3. Anti Aliasing = AMD FSR 3
Frame Generation = AMD FSR 3
    FPS is still tripled.
But causes the Cockpit screen to become a little blurry.
But the outside graphics remain clear.

I don’t fly FPS and fly for the graphics.
FSR 3 does cause my fans to speed up.
I don’t know if it is the CPU or GPU fans.

So, I’ll keep flying with TAA only.

Note: This is with the default AMD driver with no options set.

I’m not sure I’m seeing where the “bug” is here - is it that glass cockpit displays are blurry with FSR 3 upscaling? If so, that’s just the nature of upscaling - happens with DLSS as well, and it’s not really a bug, just a consequence.

Also FSR frame gen shouldn’t be tripling your frames, but rather doubling it (technically a little less than doubling it, but close enough).

I’m eagerly anticipating the release of SU2 so I can try FSR3 frame gen on my 3090 Ti. That might let me use DLSS DLAA or TAA and bump my graphics quality up a bit from the DLSS Quality with no frame gen I use now.

I use the 7900XTX with the driver FMF activated (not ingame FSR) together with TAA.
Excellent smoothness and quality is also good (displays etc)
Of course it makes the GPU sweat. But that’s the case anyway with FS24.

after the last update the FSR3 is not aavailable anymore… how to fix?

Your frames rates are tripled because you have AFMF2.1 turned on in the Adrenalin driver along with FSR3 frame gen in the sim.

I agree it does look good :+1:.

I just flew yesterday with 1.4.11.0 and FSR3 was available.

I noticed the exact same thing you did with fps x3 and I could toggle off AFMF2.1 and the fps would go down to x2 with just FSR3 frame gen on.

Keep in mind with the Adrenalin driver there is the global settings and the game specific profiles.

I have no idea what the issue is.

I installed the AMD driver and did nothing to it.
It is running its defaults.

I clicked only the FS2024 option for Frame Generation = AMD FSR 3 to see what it does/did.

I don’t know what FS2024 is doing.

As far as a bug, that was not my intention to imply that there was one.
I was just trying to select a correct category.

I realize now that it is a Bugs category.

From now on, I’ll stick to the General Discussion category.

Moved to Sim Update 2 Beta | MSFS 2024 > Beta Discussion :slightly_smiling_face:

I get a hung system when I turn in FSR3 in the settings with the latest beta. Unsure what it could be but it’s odd how it just crashes the sim by even passing by the option in the menu.

Now that’s a problem! I’d recommend a DDU uninstall to clean things up and a reinstall of Adrenalin 25.3.2.

What’s adrenaline? I have an Nvidia card.

AMD GPU Driver

Do I need that if I’m using an integrated gpu on the 7900X3D

No, if you use a Nvidia GPU for the sim (and other games) you don’t need to mess with Adrenalin drivers. I also have a Nvidia GPU (4070 TI Super) and also getting crashes if I try to use FSR3 frame gen in the sim. They even happen when the sim is loading. Can only use Nvidia frame gen here.

I have a desktop with a 4070, so I don’t need any help there. But I decided to install this on my laptop with an I5 9th gen and 1650. It was barely playable before on low settings but now with FSR3 it’s made it playable at medium settings. Yeah not the greatest graphics but FSR 3 will be a godsend for folks on low end PCs or GPUs without FG support.

This is a bug we should be reporting then

Yes, I think so. Just tried it again and no crash during the flight but then I restarted the sim and crashed on loading. Going back to Nvidia frame gen again.

Sorry - when you referenced FSR3 I assumed AMD gpu. Not used to Nvidia gpu’s using AMD frame gen!
