About the event

Welcome, lads and lassies, to another epic tour courtesy of FSB and SkyTreks!

We’re upping our game, and have created a full multimedia event touring some historic castles situated in the beautiful landscapes of eastern Scotland! We’re including links for free airfield mods, an image viewer and folder of images, and the entire city of Edinburgh addon to help enhance your experience during the tour, so be sure to download all the posted mods early and make some time to install and test them prior to the event. Your tour guide is SkyTreks, who will narrate a brief history of each castle upon arrival.

Take-off is at 19:00 UTC. The flight time will be about 3 hours long and we will make a 10 minute break at EGPD . And as always with Flight Sim Break, Join when you can, leave when you must!

RECOMMENDED AIRCRAFT

For this event we recommend the stock Cessna 208 B Grand Caravan, Kodiak or equivalent!

City of Edinburgh, Scotland - a large file (2 GB), but I tested it and looks pretty good in VR. Not bad for free!

EGPH – Edinburgh Airport

EGAO – Aboyne Airfield

EGPJ Fife Airport

EGPT Perth/Scone Airport

EGQI Blair Atholl Airfield

EGPG Cumbernauld Airport

TOOLS

eBag by Spit40 – Single-panel image viewer for VR (FREEWARE) This is what I’ve been testing with. Fairly easy to install and set up, just follow included instructions file.

JD’s eBag - (FREEWARE) Claimed to be based on Spit40’s eBag, but with 4 panels instead of one.

FSDesktop – (PAYWARE) Best solution for multimedia in VR. Bring any Windows app into your cockpit! Single panel. 3-day free trial/$15 min donation for fully licensed version.

MULTIMEDIA

Download and unzip this folder of images, then copy the contents into the ‘ebag’ folder in the eBag app. Test it out at least 24 hours prior to Saturday’s flight.

Sounds cool! What’s the idea with the image viewer? Does one need to manually cycle through the images or are they triggered by location somehow?

You will be able to switch between them. They are already sorted, so it’s just going to be “click on next” when SkyTreks will tell us to do so.

I’m very impatient for this history lesson  (first time in my life I ever say this! )

The image viewer (eBag or JD’s eBag) is only for VR pilots. If you fly pancake, just open the folder of images on a second screen/window, or on a tablet or even your smartphone using any photo viewer app you can easily click forward or back. For VR pilots, the eBag window has arrows pointing left/right so you can progress through the pics. NOTE: they are sometimes difficult to see as they share the same area as the photos, so note their position in your head so you can click the same spot to move forward and back. The ‘+’ and ‘-’ buttons control zoom, but all the images are the exact same width, so find a size you like and stick with it if flying VR.

Follow the readme instructions after downloading to install correctly. One folder goes into your community folder, and the other can go anywhere BUT inside the MSFS folder tree. That folder contains a couple of files you click on to activate the app, and a subfolder called ‘ebag.’ Unzip the images folder and copy-paste all the images into tthat folder after removing any files already inside the ebag folder. Keep the app open after you activate, but you can minimize and it should appear in your toolbar as a blank button on the menu. Hope to see you in a couple of hours!

Thanks, I am in VR. I’m fine without the photos though, the add on scenery is enough for me =)

Was just curious
