About the Event

Put on your captain’s hat, flight simmers! We’re going to make it super easy for you to pilot a modern airliner from start-up to takeoff, navigate a VFR flight plan, and land at eight commercial airports. Students of this lesson will be flying the MSFS stock Airbus A320neo on short hops from San Diego to San Francisco, CA. No flight computer or autopilot use required.

The flight begins with a brief walk-through of the sim’s checklist function to get your A320neo powered up and ready for pushback. Then we’ll taxi and line up prior to takeoff. Your flight plan will line you up for approach to each airport along the way. Our fourth stop will be the Mohave Airport and Space Center. We’ll break there for ten minutes, and you can use your drone camera to view all of the mothballed airliners there.

I strongly encourage every student in the lesson aspect of this flight to select the stock A320neo that comes with the sim. This is very important since the lesson only refers to this particular aircraft. You won’t be able to follow along in a Boeing or other make/model of aircraft. And for those flying the A320neo, I’ve added links to 7 unique liveries which fly this region in real life. Please download and install all seven to your Community folder, then choose one when you launch the sim. In this way all will be able to enjoy seeing each other’s chosen livery during the flight, adding to the immersive experience of flying a real airliner!

Simmers already experienced with airliners are encouraged to join either in the A320neo or another aircraft of your choosing. Just be sure to choose an aircraft that can keep up with our average speed of around 265 knots or so.

So, hope to see you for this rare group flight of airliners. The lesson begins at 12pm (PDT) sharp, (19:00 UTC), and pushback/taxi at around 12:15. Flight time will be ~3 hours duration. And as always with Flight Sim Break, Join when you can – leave when you must!

RECOMMENDED MODS:

The ATC menu on the toolbar includes a pushback request option, and you will need pushback from the gate. However, both of these FREE mods come with additional cool features you can play with to enhance your airliner pilot experience.

OPTIONAL SCENERY:

None of these mods are necessary to see the airports. I recommend the water fix mods for a more immersive experience for both this flight and whenever you fly in California. A few are some cool scenery visible along our flight path, and the rest add minor additional objects to some of the airports.
