About the event

It’s February, the absolute best time of the year for downhill skiing!! The coldest days are behind us, but the winter has dumped several feet/meters of fresh snow at your favorite ski resorts.

So, what has this to do with flight simming? Well, we have planes that come with skis! So we’re going to try something completely different this week and go downhill skiing… WITH OUR PLANES!

I’ve selected the Lake Tahoe area in California because it’s literally ringed with several premiere ski resorts. We’re going to visit a few of them and try to land on the top of the hills, and then let gravity take over while we attempt to ski our various aircraft all the way to the bottom. So get to know your slew controls because IF you make it down, (and even if you crash), that’s your only way out to give it another go !

After we’re done skiing, we’ll take a short break, and then head south for some of nature’s eye candy to top off a fun day on the slopes!

Take-off is at 20:00 UTC. The flight time will be about 2.5 hours long and we will make a 10 minute break at 73CA. And as always with Flight Sim Break, Join when you can, leave when you must!

RECOMMENDED AIRCRAFT:

Any of the above mentioned planes will give you at least 90 KPH speed. I’ll be flying the DHC-6-300 for the extra power getting to the top of a ski hill, and maybe use reverse thrust to help slow me down while navigating a ski run. However, I tested with the C172 and had some success with that plane, too.
