FSLTL - FS Live Traffic Liveries is live!

I found that it was due to my PC’s sound setup. My ATC sounds would cut out until I changed my settings.
The problem is this: You’ve installed the sound chipset drivers for your sound card, along with it’s utility for effects, EQ etc., while Windows has it’s own effects settings and MSFS also has it’s own effects in the Sound settings screen.
A few of these settings do the same thing so your MSFS has got triplicated sound settings; on top of which the ATC voices are streamed from the Azure servers so that’s why the ATC voices drop out while other sounds can still be heard.
The fix is this:
I uninstalled my onboard sound chip drivers and utility panel (Creative Sound Blaster), rebooted my PC and let Windows find it’s own drivers.

I disabled ALL other sound outputs except Speakers:

I disabled ALL sound effects in MSFS Sound options:

To replace your sound card utility, right-click the Speaker icon next to the System Tray where you can select Spatial sound and choose Windows Sonic (freeware) or Dolby Access (trial). I chose Dolby Access and ended up buying Dolby Atmos for Headphones, because it does far more than Windows Sonic and it’s developed specifically for Microsoft Flight Simulator and many other games:

You access the App through the Speaker icon next to the system tray, and it launches with Windows.

In the past two weeks I’ve flown every day, most flights were at least 1.5 hours with a few over 2 hours and one yesterday at 3.5 hours into Rome LIRF with FSLTL, AIFlow and Offline GA Traffic and no loss of ATC.

The point of all this is to give the Azure text-to-speech servers as direct a link as possible to your sound card, with no interruptions from 3rd-party sound utilities or codec packs.
I started a flight today from Manchester (UK) to Larnaca (Cyprus) in the Longitude and lost ATC over Amsterdam. I checked my internet speed and it was down to 30-40mbps, so again another issue at MY end, not MS/Asobo’s.
I reset my router and checked the internet speed again - 65mbps as it should be. I’m currently over Budapest with full ATC comms, again with FSLTL, AIFlow and Offline GA Traffic. It’s great to be able to quickly narrow the fault down to internet speed and get it fixed right away.

Thanks for the explanation. All makes sense re the reason. Not sure I care enough about the in SIM ATC to try to fix it though…

Keep us updated on how your revelations work out in the long term.

Personally I don’t have anything other than the built in motherboard integrated sound chipset and no special drivers or sound utilities to tinker with, but I do get the loss of ATC audio bug.

My sound chipset is integrated too, are you sure you don’t have any creative or realtek driver/utility installed?
The flight to Larnaca completed after 4 hours with audible and visual ATC guidance to the gate, perfect!

Absolutely sure.

Sometimes I can make long flights with no problem at all, other times the bug appears on even short flights. It is a very random bug. I can go days without experiencing the problem.

Just a little tip for anyone in the market for headsets, go to the Dolby Atmos website at Headphones with Dolby Atmos - Dolby to see which headphones are already Atmos enabled. Unless I’m mistaken, all the ones on their list come with the Atmos licence at no extra charge. I recently got the corsair HS80 headphones, downloaded the Dolby Atmos app from the Microsoft store prior to connecting the headphones, then the app automatically activated Atmos for Headphones when it saw them connected to the pc. Great headset, aside from having to use a third party app to boost the mic volume (I rarely use that anyway), and the Atmos licence is tied to my Microsoft account, and looks like it activated the headphones option on my Xbox as well. This may save you some money depending on what headset you’re interested in.

If you are afraid you might not be getting Atmos, would that be considered atmos-fear?

An interesting thing happened last night. Worth sharing in case anyone encounters it. I was spawned at EGLL, about to start a flight, and found that despite having FSLTL injector running and it listing injected traffic, the airport was empty, or after a retry it just had static aircraft and nothing visibly taxied or got services. Something weird was going on.

Interestingly GSX services at the gate worked but all services were completely invisible. Definitely something weird going on!

I spent a couple of hours and several reboots to confirm that this wasn’t going away and was repeatable.

Then I remembered that I had earlier enabled all liveries (about 20 of them) in my community folder for the A320NX. That’s all I had done. (Admittedly some of these were over a year old.). I disabled those 20 liveries except the one I was using and everything returned to normal with AI and GSX.

I still don’t know what livery took everything out yet, but it was quite interesting to see what the side effects can be of having a bad livery! I’d never have guessed it could have had this knock on effect.

It’s also a good reason to use Add On Linker which is a fantastic tool.

Little light software … see the AI procedural in map  https://fr.flightsim.to/file/49242/ai-cartoflight-v1-0

Just tried to donate to the FSLTL team as I’m really impressed by this freeware project. Found out they don’t even accept donations (instead donate to charities) as “our reward is to see it used and enjoyed” …

Well, I’m using it, I’m enjoying it and now I have even more respect for you guys, thank you so much!!!

I just started using FSLTL, and I noticed that the AI traffic often times doesn’t show up on the VFR map, and ATC will act like they aren’t there (I.e. Clear me for takeoff when one is already sitting on the runway). Is this normal?

Yes, the VFR map can only detect traffic injected by the sim itself.

I have had a specific question about “February 2023 Developer Stream” about a tool called “WORLD HUB” Martial mentioned that this tool will serve to modify everything that has to do with Airports in order to solve any discrepancy that exists in them, so the question en. Will this tool really be useful for air traffic and ATC and will it allow us to solve it ourselves at airports where planes do not take off or arrive? What did I miss with that tool?

what a sad reality that we have to live with this simulator

FSLTL/AIG/FS Traffic aren’t available on Xbox, so there’s next to no chance that 3rd party injected traffic will ever be visible on the MSFS VFR map.

I dont want to derail the thread, however I had the same issue (well really not an issue) with Working Title, when they just started out with the CJ4..did not want money just enjoy. If it was not for these guys making this Sim better, they are just amazing. Thank you FSLTL.

Just amazing, making this Sim better

You know what would be a nice feature would be to add VFR pattern traffic. Say just 0-10 GA aircraft doing pattern work (like you would at any busy training airport). It would make pattern entry more of a interesting challenge - having to maintain visual separation is something really missing from the VFR experience at the moment and I think FSLTL could really help.

Had a bit of fun with FSLTL working its magic last night. I’ve mentioned on this forum before that my older brother is a 787 captain for Virgin Atlantic. Last night he texted me just before his departure from Seattle bound for Heathrow. He gave me his route and departure stand number as well as his ATC frequency so I could listen in live and hear him on the comms during departure.

I fired up the sim with FSLTL and It all came together perfectly. His Virgin 787 appeared at the right stand and I followed him out in my 787 as we waited for a while for him to be given clearance. We then had a formation take off in our 787’s.

This sim really does astound me sometimes.
