[FSS] Simplon Orient Express

Maybe you’ve once watched the film or read the book “Murder In The Orient Express”, published in 1934. It’s a typical Agatha Christie novel – quite entertaining – with Belgian Detective Hercule Poirot trying to solve a murder mystery. The plot takes place on the legendary Orient Express. The train in the novel runs the Simplon route.

We’ll explore this route from the sky. Departing from a little airport at the fringes of France’s capital, Paris, we’ll officially start the rally over the Gare de Lyon in Paris, where the Orient Express originally started. Our final destination will be the golden gateway of Istanbul.

For our first leg of this tour tonight (04/26/2025), here’s how to join:

  • You need FS2024 to fly along.
  • Leg’s gonna start at 7 pm zulu time
  • You need to join the West Europe Multiplayer Server. If you don’t know how, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdavexSz6BI
  • It helps to activate traffic nameplates so we can spot each other more easily. If you don’t know how, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DEDKbviTqs
  • Add “DefragDad” as a friend on FS2024 to make it easier to find me.
  • Pick an aircraft which can do at least 150 KIAS (a little more is better), that’s our average speed on the legs. I’ll fly a Kodiak 100, another good choice would be a Grand Caravan C208, a Baron 58 or similar.
  • We’ll simply meet up on the airfield and then decide when and which runway to take off from.
  • Please either join the (FlightSimSafaris.com) channel on the FSS Discord server to be able to communicate, or…
  • … as usual I’ll stream on Twitch so if you can’t join the Discord server for whatever reason you can communicate on Twitch as well.

The leg will start at LFPZ - St.Cyr L’Ecole Airport in France.

First leg’s done. I was late and stuff didn’t go exactly as planned, as usual :slight_smile: And I decided to not like the NXCub so I went back to my Kodiak. Had CtrlPhreek along for the ride. Very enjoyable tour.
