FSUIPC7, spad.next, Axis and Ohs etc

Do these 3rd party apps allow additional functionality beyond what is available in-game within the options settings menu? For example, in the TBM930 cockpit there is a toggle switch to turn on and off the Inertial Separator. However there is no function to control this through a key bind (or button on a Bravo etc.) in the Options menu. I know it can be controlled as part of the anti-icing system but if I want to turn it on without the additional anti-icing function it is not possible as a key bind all by itself. Yet you can enable/disable it with the toggle in the cockpit. So essentially, even though Asobo doesn’t include it in the Options menu, do any of the above 3rd party tools allow it?

Spadnext can do just about anything, It warrants the status of being a hobby in its own right, Some people like to play around with switches and events and variables more than actually taking off and flying. There is a certain buzz involved with discovering how things work, just like some people are really into flight planning and navigation etc. Axis and Ohs is also study level, but I don’t have much experience with it. Im the type of person who loves study stuff , FS2020 eye candy is very nice too, and a trip into the clouds can be an escape before returning to the ground and trying to figure out things . Its a hobby that has so many directions, livery painting, geography, design, checklists and even stuff like FPS obsession (glad I am not into that) streamdecks, logitech gear, are all configurable in spadnext. dont know if this answers your question

IIRC “anti-ice engine 1” maps to the inertial separator on the TBM 930. This should work both via SimConnect (spad.next etc) and in the sim’s own bindings, afaik.

In general, beware that aircraft-specific functions sometimes use custom variables and don’t expose standard SimConnect bindings (of which the bindings available in the sim menu are a large subset). These are I believe called LVARs – the aircraft simulation has additional variables which can be accessed indirectly. This requires the beta version of spad.next, and I haven’t tried manipulating those (there was a problem with one of the recent sim updates, I don’t know if it’s been fixed).

I have just purchased FUIPC7 for MS FS 2020 and used FUIPC in FSX. From memory I didn’t play around with the settings but just used the defaults and found it did make a difference to the way the plane behaved for the better. I haven’t tried out the one for MS FS 2020 yet.

Thanks for the replies so far guys. I will try the “anti-ice engine 1” and see if it addresses the particular issue with the Inertial Separator.

Basically though, I’m very happy with the control functions and sensitivity settings I have for my Alpha and Bravo. I’m just looking for more functionality with the cockpit. To be able to eliminate as much mouse duties as possible and assign them to Alpha and Bravo buttons/controls is my goal.

Well I just tried the “anti-ice engine 1” and it had absolutely no effect on anything in the cockpit of the TBM. Still looking for an answer and will continue to research.

Just checked and “ANTI_ICE_SET_ENG1” set to 1/0 does indeed enable/disable the inertial separator in the TBM. However, it does not animate the switch. If your parked with engine running on the ground and you turn it on, you’ll see the caution warning pop up, but the switch doesn’t move.

Same issue with Just Flight’s Piper Arrow and SPAD. Switching ANTI_ICE_SET_ENG1 between 0 and 1 used to work just fine until mid-summer or so, but after some point the animation seems to be broken although sim vars suggest the values are updated correctly and I can even hear the sound. Probably something broke after an MSFS and/or Piper update.

update: the JFP28R issue is tracked in Alternate air control lever not moving | Just Flight Community
