On November 5th the yearly FSWeekend event will be held in Lelystad Netherlands at the Aviodrome museum.
To mark this occasion I will host a community flight on Shoneygaming Twitch channel flying from Eindhoven EHEH airport over the west of the Netherlands and landing at Lelystad airport EHLE where the event is being held.
When: Saturday, November 5 @ 1200Z for two hours
Where: Twitch
This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both the PC and Xbox platforms.
There is for both Eindhoven EHEH and Lelystad EHLE an optional addon available from Flightsim.to. These addon’s are not required to participate, but will enhance the experience.
For added realism and looks I recommend the following addons which can be freely downloaded at Flightsim.to:
EHEH
EHLE
AIRCRAFT
Recommended aircraft: any plane of your choice with a cruise speed of around ~120 knots. Examples: Cessna 172, CubCrafters X or NX Cub, Pipistrel Virus, Pilatus PC-6 Porter, etc.
However, it all comes down to your own preference.
MULTIPLAYER SETTINGS
Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.
Server SE Asia
Multiplayer All Players
Live traffic As preferred
Weather As preferred
Time of Day Daytime
It is advised in this flight to turn off both aircraft collisions and terrain collisions. If you do crash, you can use “slew” mode to join the pack. If the pack will be too scattered before the first stop, we will use slew on a defined point to regroup.
LET’S FLY
This is meant to be a fun and informal flight. Everybody is welcome, no matter the amount of experience.
I would like to apologize to everyone who joined the community flight during the FSWeekend streams. Unfortunately the internet connection in Aviodrome Museum in Lelystad is very bad to say the least. So we where forced to stream on a 5G phone connection. This however was also bouncing around due to the number of visitors there. And our internet bundle was running out quickly. So we decided that the podcasts took priority over the community flight.
However, coming Wednesday November 9 2022 we will be flying this flight again so everyone still has the opportunity to join us should they want to.
That’s a good initiative flying this VFR again Shoney. I flew this flight last Saturday too as Crosswind59. I mostly fly IFR flight’s via IVAO and as a member of Brussels Virtual Airlines as BEL081. (3600 hours) Unfortunately my experience with multiplayer VFR flights is the lack of structure and rules. For example, approaching EHLE , according metar landing on rwy 23 (my intentions where announced via the twitch channel) another pilot landed at the same time on the opposite rwy 08. On ground planes taxiing trough each other. Maybe using a voice channel would be a benefit. I’am looking forward finding pilots or groups via discord or whatever sharing my humble remarks about general aviation community flight’s. Looking forward for the VFR flight on wednesday. Sincerely…
I indeed remember you Crosswind. Thank you for your insights.
Yes in VFR, and especially my flights, it is harder to create structure and rules. Not impossible as Forden has many a time shown, but definitely harder.
Especially when a stream is catered towards starting pilots. People with no experience, who just downloaded the sim on either their PC or Xbox, picked up a controller and are wondering what to do next.
As I fly real time mostly and real weather almost always I try to adhere to metar conditions and land in the correct runways and such. Now with Navigraph 8 coming out VFR will be even more catered to and I hope to make extensive use of these features.
This is becoming harder for me currently as with my “Flight to every Country” we are now flying in Africa where most airports do not have any form of SID’s or STARS let alone approach plates for runways
So we try to make it work best we can
But in the end my streams are pointing at one thing and one thing only: Having as MUCH fun as you can while flying online with your friends and the community. We fly, we talk, we have a laugh and we even discuss many subjects in flight simming in general and even beyond at times. Although I do try to focus on Flight simulation in general.
So if you are looking for solid structure during your flights, you may not always find that here.
If you are looking to forget your worries for the day while flying a nice cool flight and enjoying the community? You couldn’t be more at home. And before you know it, you may have flown to every single country in the world in a Cessna 172… with a bit of luck
