Hello,
I have a question about how to set up the simbrief fuel planning tab for GA airplanes flying IFR, for example the TBM850 as in my example. Because as you can see in my screenshots it calculates 2.5x the amount of block fuel than what I will actually burn off. This seems like so much. Is this realistic? How should I be setting the ‘reserve’ selector? And even the alternative is relatively closeby so I don’t understand why I need 440 kg of fuel. Thanks!
I looks like Simbrief calculated 180kg for destination plus 1h of reserve fuel. Your flight time to KASE is about 1h so you load another 180kg of fuel. The remaining 80kg is for alternate.
What is your reserve fuel setting in simbrief? For GA IFR you can set it to 45min.
I have it at 60min because I fly airliners most of the time and I usually try 1-2 go-arounds before going for alternate.
Even when using correct settings / times in simbrief I find it usually over fuels compared to when I do it by hand with the POH, flight and weather data and an e6b calculator so I just do it by hand.
Fun to learn and rewarding when the numbers line right up with the flight
For airliners I leave it to Simbrief.
