Full Character Editor (Face, Body, Hair, Beard, Outfit)

MSFS2024 introduced a new and more complex character system, deeply integrated into activities such as firefighting, search & rescue, skydiving, and other mission‑based gameplay.
However, compared to MSFS2020, the simulator currently lacks a full character editor that allows advanced customization of the pilot avatar.

This request proposes the reintroduction of a complete Character Editor, including detailed options for face, body, hair, beard, clothing, and accessories, while remaining fully compatible with the new animation and mission systems in MSFS2024.

Why this is important

  • Enhances player identity and immersion.

  • Allows realistic representation of pilots across professional and recreational activities.

  • Improves cutscenes, mission engagement, and role‑playing depth.

  • Enables third‑party developers to create custom outfits and character models.

  • Restores a popular feature that existed in MSFS2020 and was widely appreciated by the community.

Requested Features

  • Full facial editor (morphology, skin, eyes, nose, mouth, beard).

  • Body editor (height, build, proportions).

  • Hair and beard customization with multiple styles.

  • Outfit editor independent from mission type (uniforms, civilian clothing, technical gear).

  • Ability to save multiple character presets.

  • Support for custom character models via SDK.

  • Full compatibility with MSFS2024 animations and mission systems.

That would be a fine example of cheap, micro-transaction kinds of cosmetics that people could get for their avatars.

Yes, please! The character creator is so primitive compared to what existed even back in the 2000’s in Xbox 360 titles like Saint’s Row 2 and Mass Effect.

The results are sometimes horrifying. In spite of having my copilot avatar disabled, one will sometimes still show up in the right seat. It’s always a shock to switch to my saved custom view out the right side window to see some ghoulish looking thing staring back at me.

I don’t know if they limited the realism in order to help with performance or they just took the easy way out and threw something together under a deadline. Whatever the reason, it’s a really poor implementation. I expected much better when I first tried it.

I’m sure Microsoft owns the license to some defunct title from years back with a decent character generator that they could reuse instead. I remember playing a number of golf games over the years in which you could create a pretty good facsimile of yourself.

One of the biggest limitations is the lack of Caucasian models to choose from. I realize all races need representation, but at the same time I suspect that the overwhelming number of players of this title are white. There are only a small handful of white models in the game, so you just have to do the best you can with what’s available. A simple skin tone slider would completely eliminate this.

just add a facial reconstruction application like those apps used by the FBI and the police to reconstruct the face of a criminal…a more realistic AVATAR is exactly what is needed in this simulator.

Upload my likeness to an MS server? Unable.

There are a couple of avatars from fs2020 I would like to see, and I think it would be doable to import all of the 2020’s with the new motions of fs24. I also like the idea of being able to edit as suggested, and also being able to upload likeness. In the '24 avatars, there are two sets of women that are very difficult to tell apart and I don’t know what is the purpose in having them so similar.
