Re the subject RAM
G.Skill indicate that the RAM on EXPO will maintain its advertised speed of 6000MHz.
However my computer shop states:
DDR5 RAM over 64GB, or at speeds over 6000MHZ tend to be a coin toss whether they run stable or not when EXPO/XMP is enabled. There is a good chance if you were to go with the 96GB kit that we would have to disable EXPO to get the system running properly.
I would personally recommend going with 64GB at 6000MHZ.
I have asked G.Skill directly about this. But any knowledge and experience here would be appreciated.
My build will be:
-
AMD Ryzen 9950X3D CPU
-
MSI MPG X870E Carbon WiFi AM5 ATX Desktop Motherboard
-
MSI RTX 5090 Suprim Liquid SOC
-
G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL28-36-36-96 1.35V 96GB (2x48GB) AMD EXPO
-
ASUS ProArt LC 420 AIO
-
be quiet! SILENT BASE 802 TG - Full Tower Case (Black)
-
Crucial T700 Gen 5 w/heatsink (OS)
-
Samsung 990 Gen 4 w/heatsink x3
-
Silverstone ECM21-E
I know about the unavailability of the GPU and CPU. I don’t need this in a hurry..
