This isn’t just a PS5 issue. I’ve been seeing it on PC (Steam) since SU4.
I can’t get it to happen reliably without flying for over half an hour. It seems to be more common at higher sim rates. I have 64 GB of system RAM with an nvidia RTX 5070 Ti and a 16-core 32-thread Ryzen 9 7950X3D, so I doubt that I’m runinng out of resources.
It has happened with most stock airplanes I’ve tried with G1000, G3000, G3X, G5000, ProLine, or Primus avionics. I think it happened once with the Asobo 737 MAX, but maybe I just forgot to turn on the IRS. It never happened for me with the SR-22 or the iniBuilds Airbuses (though those have WASM crashes).
I never see it with any third-party addons, which for me are PMDG 737-800, PMDG 777-300ER, Aerosoft/Digital CRJv2, FlyByWire A32NX, FlyByWire A38NX, Leonardo MD-82/84/88, and FSS E170/E175 (experimental build). That makes me think it’s a bug in a common module shared between the stock glass cockpit code.
That seems to be a great insight.
If you are able to reproduce it on PC reliably that might help a lot.
With your PC you are probably running “high” settings at 1440p.
Would you mind to set it to the “low” preset 1080p capped at 60 fps for a test flight?
1h in the Longitude should easily do the trick, standard SimRate.
Just as a test.
The devs shared that between SU3 and SU4 the CPU load changed quite significantly.
So if you had perfectly tweaked settings for SU3 you might have to dial them in again with SU4 and with SU5 as well because again a few things changed.
I watched a few livestreams and the issue doesn’t seem common on PC (I don’t own a PC personally).
On PS5 Pro (with longitude) it happens around every 10min with standard SimRate…
So it’s quite a big issue.
You also might want to check if you can download as much as possible, planes, scenery, to make sure the issue doesn´t come from internet drop outs / latency.
SR-22 doesn´t seem to be effected because it is mostly a systems demonstrator for the G1000.
The engine simulation etc. it is rather shallow compared to other planes, also it is more on the slow side.
I´m not familiar with the third party planes you mentioned, which of them use Garmin glass cockpits?
Did you try the SU5 Beta? What is your experience with it, how did the issue change for you?
It would be great if you are able to help out. We might all profit from it.
In the end we all have a big passion about the game and would love if this issue would be resolved as quick as possible.
Thanks a lot.
I just tried a 2 hour flight from KSEE to KBFI in the Longitude with 1x sim rate. I started and ended with the resolution set to 1080p, but the cruise phase was mostly 1440p. The PFDs rebooted a few times. While on 1440p, the PFD reset to the “Garmin” splash screen 6 times, which I only saw 2 times on 1080p. The airplane on the MFD changed to a puck twice at 1440p and once on 1080p, indicating loss of heading or position (I think). I also saw the heading indicator on the PFD go blank with a red X. It seems somewhat more stable with 1080p.
Every time I saw a glitch on this flight, I had autopilot and autothrottle engaged.
I tried opening the debug console, but it didn’t show any relevant messages around the times I saw the G5000 resetting or losing heading.
None of the addons I mentioned use MSFS’s stock avionics or custom versions of Garmin avionics. The Aerosoft CRJ does have Collins ProLine avionics similar to the stock Citation CJ4 and King Air C90, but it has Aerosoft’s own implementation, not the MSFS stock one.
I haven’t tried SU5 yet, but I probably won’t have time to test it before the proper SU5 release later this week.
To be fair, the complaint is about the prioritization. We on PS5 (and xbox and pc who are are also affected) need a working game in first place. Stuff like psvr2 support are nice to have, but wouldn’t be any vr experience ruined by crashing avionics!? Right.
Yes, this issue might take some dev time. Signed. But I guess many players would prefer crucial fixes instead of nice gimmicks like psvr support or nicer photogrametry trees. Don’t get me wrong, but the msfs is not an arcade game. It is a proper simulator. It is in fact about following the procedures and all those nice buttons. But if your avionics keep crashing all the time (even with the plane standing still at the airport (as seen in the longitude or the 737max8), this would be an alert signal for every pilot, not to take off.
I see the point, that it make take a bit. But it should be priority to nice to have stuff. The game had a fully release more than a year ago and right now most glass cockpit planes are unflyable being in the cockpit. Our paid money has not reduced value. Hope I could my my point clear. Right now we paid a super-duper-premium-price for a hope for a working game (simulatorwise, being in the cockpit). A clear statement “It is the top priority issue” would sooth the disappointment - instead of silence.
I contacted Zendesk yesterday and they replied the problem is still under research and they don’t have a solution yet. That answer implies to me that it’s on the to-do list, however it isn’t shown on the feedback snapshot that is part of the development update.
In the development update they said they will update the charts in the feedback snapshot with work-in-progress bugs instead of solved bugs. That charts also seems to imply that votes/posts on a subject matter, so it’s in our interest to keep this thread alive and share it with whoever it may concern.
Is this a bad joke!? Every of their internal play testers must have noticed that already in december, when the patch that broke it was deployed. And it is may by now! Still investigating? Why is this issue not prio 1 due to its severe impact on the gameplay.
· Auto Throttle change speed by itself to max 280, although my AT settings was set at 198 and was set to manual not on FMS.

Gameplay: Career mode, however I suspect it’s still happening in free flight as well. Was using the Pilatus PC-24, however it’s happening with all the planes, Garmin etc…

EDIT: I also tried clearing my PS5 cache and rebuilding the database, but made no difference…
Did one flight in the cessna citation longitude and in the X-Boom. Plenty of reboots.
In fact especially the longitude spent more time rebooting than actually working. This is unbelievable for a game, that costs tripple the price of a AAA title game… this is a bad joke. I hardly find words for that.
I really want to know when they will stop adding stuff that breaks everything else! Now the PS5 is up and running with the promised VR - for goodness sake, please fix what exists - NO MORE ADDING STUFF until this whole sim is FIXED - PLEASE
Yeah I like the new additions (market place, carreermode extensions: powered lift, etc.) but making the game actually work would be far more important.
Dear mods, can you please escalate the issue internally, please? This issue affects ALL digital avionics (glass cockpits… garmin, honeywell, boeing, etc.) and makes all those planes almost unflyable.@Chewwy94
I can confirm the issue on Plystation 5 as well, here an example from the Citation Longitude, along side with horrible performance on the Airplane it self,… other planes have the same avionik issues, but at least no performence problems like the longitude.
The longitude has performance issues after changing from inside to outside view and vice versa. Not nice. But the constantly rebooting avionics on all planes are unbearable.
Right know the memory management got worse in SU5 resulting in even more avionics reboots and crashes. Here on PS5 in some planes the avionics don’t even start anymore at all (A330, Boeing 737 Max 8) due to running out of RAM.
See here: PS5 & Xbox: Memory management completely broken after SU5 … SU5 is a bad joke, especially for us on console. Please also support this bug report. The bugreports are tied to each other and need to addressed in one go by the devs.
I also think this is related to the RAM issue on PS5 after the SU5 update. Many career missions are unplayable in SU5 - both because avionics stop working / reboots, but also because the entire mission derails - it loses track of the various milestones in the mission, and it is not possible to complete the mission because of this.
