I just tried to fly a Diamond DA-40 TDI without any glass cockpit in SU 5.0 main release. This plane has a LED-based Engine status indicator instrument. EVEN THIS ONE IS REBOOTING during flight over and over again. So it is not just the glass cockpits… Every avionic system ia broken in this game and constantly being reset. Great!
@DementedCorn327 : Please add the informarion to the internal bug ticket, that not only the glass cockpits (Garmin, Honeywell, boeing, etc.) are affected. Even small LED-based Engine status indicator instruments are rebooting during flight. Maybe the topic name should be changed to reflect that not only the garmins are broken, ALL other avionics are affected too, even small LED-things
This issue (amongst the two sister issues: with autothrottle disconnecting randomly and the the APP mode losing track of an already captured glideslope) ruins every flight in a modern plane… a cessna citation longitude, a vision jet, a boeing, a pc 12/24…
This (and the sister issues) deserve to be on top of the fixing list.
Just bought the Piaggio P.180 Avanti 2 from the store for my ps5. Did 2 flights in the SU 5.0 live-build (Not beta). Somehow in this certain plane the avionics did not seem to crash. Does it use a different… electrical simulation or whatever? This was the first time, that I flew a plane with glass cockpit, that did not constantly reboot. The ones delivered with my premium deluxe version (i call them stock planes) are pretty unflyable due to those avionics reboots (and the sister issues)
What has this plane, that the other planes (the stock ones) do not have?
Good question - there was a navigraph update today - I always wonder whether there is something connected to navigraph about the reboot and the aberrant waypoints that send you thousands of miles out of your way and crash your mission (esp when there are more than 1 waypoint with the same name).
There is a vast difference between seeing an issue and reproducing it reliably. They see the issue, they don’t argue it is happening.
Reproducing it reliably means you can provide a step by step list that 100% of the time will cause the issue to occur. This way it can be debugged to figure out what is causing it. “Fly around for an hour” isn’t a reproduction.
Right folks lets get testing in 1.7.34.0 - I suspect the release will come soon after if it is working. I wonder if it will help WASM crashes as well?
In free flight and career.
I will have a go on PS5 Beta later - not in PC Beta.
Just completed a ~1 hr flight in the Longitude in the PC Beta. Normally I would see at least 3 crashes of the Garmin, this flight had 0, so I’m cautiously optimistic.
I just had a 1 hour 45 minute flight from CYXY to PANC in the stock Citation CJ4 with the new SU 5.1 beta build on PC (Steam). I did one approach with ILS, though changing runways and approaches several times. I also did one approach hand-flying. I didn’t see the AHRS aligning issue or any other instrument issues throughout the whole flight.
I chose the CJ4 because it usually gave me more instrument problems than any other aircraft after about half an hour of flying.
I haven’t tried anything with Garmin or Primus avionics yet. It looks like @Pilotfirst9999 covered a Garmin G5000. Does anyone want to test the PC-24 or PC-12 NGX so we get some coverage of Primus?
As i can’t test right now myself (business travel), anyone still noticing autothrottle disconnecting ? To my mind autothrottle disconnecting randomly is a sister issue to the random avionics reboots.
Avionics constantly rebooting HDG, the Compass rose rotates and HDG flashes in a red box on the MFD. This switches from PFD to MFD and then to the co-pilots PFD or MFD.
Well I don’t know what happened to my cj4 and whether this is connected to the avionics or not. All of my cockpit lights on the center console shut down and the rendering of the throttles and the area around the landing gear faded out. Oddly the pfd and mfd were still alternating with HDG issues and were normally lit.
Landing at Nairobi the stutters started and just as the mission said success i got an error message which i should have copied but I was so astonished I forgot.
I tested a couple of flights with the vision jet and the garmin worked flawlessly, no reboots at all, seems that they have solved the issue, unbelievable hehe
