G1000 / G1000NXI - Mapping for MFD controls missing since SU2 Beta in the DA62

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: Most of the MFD controls on the G1000 & NXI are no longer available to be mapped to game controllers. They were available and worked as expected since the launch of MSFS 2024, but since SU2 they have disappeared and can no longer be mapped or operated, except by using the mouse on-screen.

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta? The issue was present in the SU2 beta and I reported it at the time. The issue was still present in the final release of SU2, and is still present in the SU3 beta.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue: The DA62 and some other aircraft using the G1000 / G100NXI

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue? Yes and Yes. Removing all community file add-ons makes no difference. The majority of the MFD controls are no longer available in the sim to be assigned to controllers.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? Every flight in the DA62 with the G1000 or G1000NXI.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Start a flight in a DA62 equipped with G1000 / NXI
  2. Attempt to map “MFD Range Zoom Increase” and “MFD Range Zoom Decrease” to a rotary control on any external game controller. In my case I am using one of the rotary knobs on the VKB S-TECS Max throttle.
  3. Fail, since the MFD controls have disappeared and can no longer be mapped to controllers.

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant: VKB Gunfighter IV & MCGU joystick, VKB S-Tecs Max throttle. This is not relevant however, since the option to map the controls has disappeared from the sim.

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it? No.

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use? MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 4090.

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share? Intel 13900 KS S, MSI Z790 mobo, 64GB DDR5 6,400mhz RAM, Pcie5 2TB m2 SSD.

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

I found them on the latest SU3 beta 1.5.2, at least for the Cessna 172 & DA62 - under Instruments Systems, G1000. My SU1 configs are still mapped to those settings.

Disappointingly, not all planes using G1000/G530 etc have those bindings available, only a few… Can you check if those bindings are still available for you on the C172 or DA62?

My bad… I found PFD and MFD on the Cessna 172, but indeed the MFD have disappeared for the DA62 (but PFD’ bindings are still here though…)

Hi marcvador, and thanks for taking a look at this.

Before SU2, I’m sure the MFD controls were freely available - you didn’t need to have a specific aircraft selected, but you could just apply them in the General or Default mappings.

It’s interesting you can see them available for the 172 though - I’ll try selecting that in Free Flight, amend the general mappings to see if I can add the MFD controls to the General / Default profile, and then see what happens when I switch back to the DA62…

Nah, didn’t work unfortunately - I can use the MFD controls in the 172 G1000, but not in the DA 62 - I’ll edit the thread title.

Odd…since SU2 release, in the C172 (g1000), the majority of the PFD bindings are absent, but the MFD bindings aren’t. But in the DA62, the majority of the MFD bindings are missing, while the PFD bindings are present. (nothing in Community folder…)

I know, it’s really frustrating!!!

Unfortunately this issue remains present in the DA62 and the 172, and now that SU2 is the mainstream build, I cannot regain the controls by exiting the SU3 beta.

Hopefully this can be resolved - almost everything looks and feels better in 2024 compared to 2020 for me, and I would really prefer not to have to go back to the old version just because the basic controls work better.
