Hi guys I have the latest version 0.10.1 of the G1000NXi . When I fly, the plane does not follow correctly the flight path created. I do have the NAV button activated See photo below. Anyone else has this problem.
The GPS at the top of the PFD is white, indicating it is armed, but not active. You need to manoeuvre the aircraft to intercept the path of the flight plan. Once the aircraft gets close, the GPS will become active and turn green.
Thank you for inquiring Tempered Paper good question will help me one day if I experience this and thank you Extra pilot for the answer. Very good
Thanks a lot. That worked. I would have never thought of it.
Looking at your PFD: note your fpl line is broken as shown inside your on screen heading compass, hand fly the plane toward the direction of the loaded fpl (pink line), when you get close enough the broken line will start to merge in ultimately creating a solid line. It is at the point when the broken line starts to move the gps will lock on and follow the fpl.
The short version is you don’t have to actually intercept the line just be close enough to where the broken line starts it’s inward movement.
The white text in the autopilot status section of the PFD can also apply to other modes and the same applies. If it’s white it is armed but not active.
Does this mean the the detection range of the G1000NXi is shorter than the default G1000? because I never had this situation with the default one.
The WT version is modelled on real world so that’s the realistic one. The default one will capture straight away from almost anywhere. The WT will be something like within 30 degrees of the intended course and within a certain distance from it before it will capture.
I would think it’s a safety feature. The flight plan shows you the safe, authorised route, but to get to the start of it you are likely to need to fly across a busy region above the airport. It’s better to have a pilot in control at this stage.
This band at the top of the PFD is certainly full of useful information about your current status. Whenever my aircraft does not appear to be behaving correctly, to find the problem I first check my speed, then this section, and this generally sorts it.
