G1000 OBS not working properly

Still broken on 2/18 in my C172.

I compared two files from the old and the new version of g1000, the new version completely lacks a piece of code responsible for changing the course in the OBS mode.

Why is this still broken. They want us to use the new sim, but basic stuff is broken. For months.

I’m fairly gobsmacked that this is STILL not fixed in SU2

Yeah was just trying some IFR holding practice using the DA62 G1000 gps in obs mode.

Still not working with changing the OBS course knob in SU2… kinda annoying this has been an issue for so long now.

Someone should notify the powers that be over on the WT discord page. They mentioned on their page there’s a s*itload of fixes and updates in their pipeline.

I hope you don’t expect any of these bugs to get fixed. Just like the autopilot, it wanders around like a drunk pig.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• same behavior as OP

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
• Course knob doesn’t change OBS course. I’m shocked this has been broken for so long!!

Broken here too with analog C172 as well..OBS and also ADF.

•182, DA62, Cirrus. OBS button shows a switch to PBS for a split second then reverts back to DTK. CRS knob does not change magenta course line on either the HSI or the MFD.

I have the same problem. Maybe OBS does not work for all Asobo/MS planes since the release of MSFS 2024.

But OBS works with COWS DA-40 .

Good luck.

OBS course still broken in SU3 on G1000 172 and I believe all other working title G1000 planes.

I can’t even switch on the Garmin in the Asobo/MS Cessna 172 on my PC during flight.

The scenery is good. The settings features as well. But important Garmin features are still not working.

Even more gobsmacked that it’s still broken in SU4 beta 1.6.3.0.

I have the same issue. Cessna 172, G1000 in OBS mode, I turn the cursor button and the magenta line doesn’t move.

Just tried today and still not working in G36 or C172. Oh well. Back to steam gauge and 530/430 for me.

Same here, broken for me still.

When will this be fixed? Was this mentioned in the Q&A?

Please disregard this completely off beam response: a mental glitch on my part! Apologies to the OP and those affected by the ACTUAL problem!

Hi @SlabsFly
Appreciate you testing this issue, but unfortunately, what you’ve described is the normal tracking of a VOR, which is working correctly!
However, keep in mind, the issue is using the OBS mode when in GPS mode (per OP:

In the actual unit, when using normal GPS tracking, you should be able to activate the OBS MODE using the softkey, and select a course different than the “direct to” track the current GPS mode forces you to use. The easiest way to validate the issue, while in GPS mode is push the OBS softkey, then rotate the CRS button (triangle shaped button, near the middle of the right side of the PFD). You’ll notice that the DTK never changes to a course you’ve selected, because it never recognizes that you’re changing the desired course to the GPS waypoint (whether it’s an intersection, airport, etc). In essence, OBS mode while using a GPS waypoint, somewhat acts like you’re tracking a desired VOR radial, but without actually having a VOR at the GPS waypoint. There’s a few good videos of how using OBS while in GPS mode should work.
Don’t mean to rain on your parade, but it’s a little different issue than what you tested.
Regards
