ISSUE DESCRIPTION

G1000 doesnt work correctly in MSFS 2024, its behavior is sometimes completely off and it looks like a step backwards when comparing it to the great MSFS2020 implementation.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every time.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

I’ve prepared the repro steps using MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 so you can clearly observe the differences. I have a Navigraph subscription and I’m using the most current AIRAC. I’ve been able to reproduce this issue for months with SU2, SU3, and SU4. All the issues described here affect only MSFS2024; the MSFS2020 implementation works exactly as expected. The C172 default was used for demonstration purposes.

Expected Behavior

MSFS2020

  1. Load the aircraft in EHGG RWY05
  2. Go to FPL
  3. Enter the origin if it is not prepoulated already (G1000 works this way, it knows where the plane is), the system autocomplete feature will suggest EHGG, press enter.
  4. Scroll down to “Destination”
  5. Using the cursor write EHG, the system autocomplete feature will suggest EHGG, press enter. (This is how the system is supposed to work.)
  6. Press PROC.
  7. Select ILS RWY23 via HECTI
  8. Load the approach

The system will load the approach and you will see all the details including altitudes and distances on the MFD. The PFD will show the distance to HECTI.

Current behavior

MSFS2024

  1. Load the aircraft in EHGG RWY05
  2. Go to FPL
  3. Enter the origin if it is not prepoulated already (G1000 works this way, it knows where the plane is) and write EHG, the system autocomplete feature will suggest “EHG29” (I’ve never seen this one in the G1000), first one to be suggested should be “EHGG” (See MSFS2020), add the missing “G” and press enter.
  4. Scroll down to “Destination”
  5. Using the cursor write EHGG (The autocomplete feature doesn’t seem to be working as expected)
  6. Press PROC.
  7. Select ILS RWY23 via HECTI
  8. Load the approach

The system will load the approach, but it won’t load distances or altitudes. This is not how it is supposed to work.

YOUR SETTINGS

MEDIA

MSFS 2020 (Expected Behavior)

Autocomplete feature working as expected*

Departing RWY 05, Arriving RWY23, ILS RWY23 via HECTI loaded correctly and represented as expected.

MSFS 2024 (Faulty Behavior)

Autocomplete feature working incorrectly

FPL Departing RWY05, arriving RWY23, ILS23 via HECTI loaded, but not represented. Distances and altitudes are missing.*

Pressing DIRECT TO key doesn’t work either. It doesn’t let me to insert a hold*

This issue has to do with Navigraph data, as it was demonstrated after further investigation by uninstalling it completely.

Thank you for this report. We’ve moved your topic into the User Support Hub.

The Bug Reporting Hub is for posting suspected or confirmed bugs that other users are able to reproduce without duplicating an existing bug report. Using the template or providing all the relevant information about your bug and sim setup is required in order to provide valuable information, feedback, and replication steps to our test team.

If you are not sure if your issue is a bug or need further input from the community, please use the User Support Hub category. If the community can replicate your issue, first search the Bug category to see if there’s an existing topic. If it already exists, contribute to that report. Duplicate bug reports will be closed.

If you believe it is a new report and no duplicate exists, then create a new bug topic using the provided topic template.

All issues caused by or involving third-party addons/mods should be reported to the third-party developer. Assure that no addons/mods are used when reporting issues in Bug Reports.

Moved because Bug Report includes a third party AIRAC. Bug Reports are for stock sim defect reporting only. This could be moved back if a) only Lufthansa LIDO data is used, and b) other players can repro using same steps.

I did this yesterday at ENRY, and it worked as it does in your 2020 example. Is this problem specific to EHGG for you?

I haven’t tried many other airports, I was practicing for my checkride and that’s how I found this bug.

Can you uninstall Navigraph data and try again with the sim data?

I just gave it a try, and I found out that it works almost as expected now -it is not fully solved yet-. It seems that it has to do -at least partially- with Navigraph data.

Some distances and directions are still missing, but it looks much better.

Thanks everyone!

I’ll report these finding on the Navigraph forums.

PD: @CasualClick there is still something off when using the stock airac data, so I guess this is something that should be reviewed by the team.
As you can see GG742 and GG512 are still not showing distances nor courses, while they should (See MSFS2020 image). Can you please move it back to the bug hub? As an additional note, the procedure turn was not loaded.

We need at least one other player to repro. Can someone else try this out?

It looks OK to me. I am getting info on all waypoints of the procedure.

You might need to zoom out a bit to see the procedure turn. My map scale is at 7.5nm and the turn is visible.

Good luck on your checkride, keep calm

I’m also getting normal waypoint distances and altitudes for the specified flight plan in the 172G1000. It also auto displayed the correct departure airport when I opened the FPL.
I’ve also zoomed into the point of the PT, so you can see that part is working correctly.
Note: using the default sim navdata, with no add-on’s or additional programs running.
Regards

Thanks a million! I took both SE and MEIR, everything went fine

Thanks a million @CasualClick for your patience.

I kept investigating what the issue was, even with some help of the wonderful Navigraph folks and I found out that the airport itself was causing it. After removing the airport from the community folder everything went back to normal.

Thanks a lot to everyone for the time you invested helping me to reproduce the issue on your PCs.

Have a nice day everyone
