G36 Improvement Project

I’ve just tried it with mixed results (so probably not massively helpful, sorry). At the lower speeds it was fine but I tried 17 knots (90 degree crosswind) 3 times at EGBO and only once could I hold the centre line after landing with full rudder and ailerons full into the wind. This may be my inexperience so please take it as such.
Honeycomb Alpha yoke, but only Logitech G27 driving pedals shoehorned into rudder duty.

This is the issue, in the sim when you have full aileron deflection above around 10 knots you basically are losing all the weight on the opposite wheel, causing large discrepancy in the braking force between the tires, and off the runway you go.

A 17 knot crosswind would make it pretty tough for anyone to keep it on the centerline.

That was actually a mistake, I meant to say runway!

If the main gear are straddling the centreline you’re probably doing well.

When looking at the videos it seems like they make it look easy. But that could be why they post the videos!

So are we to not dip the wing so much but try to get a hard, even stick?

For some reason when using this mod, it’s showing my fuel flow as 0 on the main engine screen, but it shows the right values on other pages like the lean page. Anyone know why that might be?

turns out it was an issue with the latest commit on the github repo

Hey, What branch were you looking at? There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes with a new version so the Development branches will be pretty buggy until the next release.

Hey all,

Apologies for being a bit quiet on here recently, lots of IRL stuff as usual and have been hanging around on Discord a little more.

For those of you who aren’t members on Discord, I thought it would be good to give you a quick update of recent development.

Recently @bagolu has doubled the development team (there are now 2 of us!), and he has been a legend working on the 3d model, fixing a few things and adding features for our next release!

Now that we have breakers modelled, I can start modelling the electrical system in a lot more detail! What started as a small tweak to our existing system very quickly turned into a complete rewrite! I’ve started at the very beginning modelling the busses and bus tie system completely so you’ll need to keep an eye on those voltages if you don’t want to pop a breaker!

No planned release date as yet, but I’ll aim to keep you all updated on our progress! If any IRL pilots have a better POH than the one found on the internet (or know where I could buy one) I would be really grateful!

Fair winds

Matt

@CaptMatto: I have not been flying much in recent months for a number of reasons and when I did fly it was mostly with the new Beaver. What can I say: I live in the PNW so Beavers are a much loved part of our world here.

But then yesterday I did a flight with the Bonny again for a change. And what a treat it was! It was like getting together with an old friend or putting on an old, comfortable sweater: it is just RIGHT! I flew from the beautiful Pilot’s 2NC0 mod to Charlotte. And yes, this flight reinforced the critical importance of staying current on IF: it took me quite a long time to do some of the flight plan prep on the ground that would have taken seconds a while ago. But once done, everything was great. Everything just… worked!

It was a short flight with an VNAV approach into Charlotte (KCLT) rwy 23. And I did make a mistake with switching to the approach in the end but it was recoverable. Did a greaser of a landing in among about 20 “heavies”. Probably the hardest part was to figure out where to go with the convoluted taxiways at Charlotte!

So thank you: your hard work hugely increases my enjoyment of the sim and my favourite RW aircraft. It somehow imparts some of the “feel” of the real aircraft: I used to own a C210 and then a BE33 (Debonair) and the difference in feel between the two aircraft was pronounced: the Bonanza just felt that much more solid and substantial. On top of that, every year with the annual the 210 ALWAYS seemed to have some AD’s and repairs while the Bonanza was way less expensive in that regard.

Love it!!!

@SlabsFly

Thank you so much for your kind words!!! Comments and stories like yours keep me striving to make this the best aircraft I can!

If you have the full real POH for the G36, that’s pretty much all there is. You’ll get supplements over time, but they just tend to be changes to either equipment or performance or STC’s etc… Do you have the full G36 POH?

I assume you might be looking for a maintenance manual? There’s one on sale on eBay for $10 right now.

I found this one online

Some more info here

@FlyingsCool5650 Thank you!

I currently have a copy of the POH I found online from 2005/2013 so not too out of date, the downside is that the quality isn’t that great and it’s sometimes a pain to search. - First world problems! :rofl:

The shop manual will be really helpful! Thank you! Already delving into the electrical system.

If you’re looking for a better POH

(Apparently posted above, but here it is again)

That’s for the A not the G, the G checklists are much more extensive (I flew several flights with that manual before I realized the difference). Apparently PDFs aren’t allowed here, or I’d attach it. If anyone wants it, just DM me. I’ll try to post the PDF in the Discord.

good job, thanks!

PDFs should not be a problem. It would be fantastic if you have a later, searchable PDF of the POH.

The second link is searchable.
