I tried flying at night for the first time at the Hemet Ryan Airport in Hemet Ca. The G36 had no landing lights, and the night was to say the least black you could see stars but nothing like what would be in the sky which you need for orientation incase! When training to get my pilot’s license I flew out of this airport, and I can say that even without landing light’s you could see very well. Last night I ended up short of the runway and after getting off the ground it took almost 15 minutes to get the runway back in sight. Then to land short because of no lighting well there needs to be better lighting all around. Inside the airplane or outside bad lighting. When shifting outside I could not see the airplane. I am pretty sure I had the beacon and strobes on but can’t be for sure. Now the New V35 B Bonanza had the landing light but seemed to be to defused and all over didn’t cover much of the runway.
