Thanks for the updates, very much looking forward to getting GAIST added to FS2024!
Thank you thank you, was not critiquing in any way at all, i am soooooo grateful that its being updated at all!
Canât wait for the GAIST update to be ready!! One question, I havenât seen any wakes the few msfs2024 ships that are moving. Will the GAIST ships have wakes?
Thanks for all the hard work!
no offense at all ;D
and ps on the ship side things are progressing well
Yes, the wakes on the GAIST ships are working in MSFS 2024 as well; i might chose to update them early next year to improve their display when ships are sailing slow, as the AIS based traffic sometimes sail very slow⊠0.1 knots and then the wakes starts displaying badly, but it is not the first focus. They work well with the ships sailing based on preprogrammed routes.
Any good experiences with MSFS2024 default ship traffic? I havenât seen many ships and also not much variety. I think I would rather go with GAIST again for sea traffic and FSLTL for air trafficâŠ
Dear Henrik,
I am happily back at flying MSFS 2020 (after getting my refundđ) and I noticed that the only ship in The vicinity of Seattle was one ferry.
Hope that your update will increase the ship trafficđ

Th Problem seems to be the LOD. Ships seem only to be visible within like 3nm.
So you wont see ships at all if you fly Airliners or not more or less directly over themâŠ
Bit a waste of resources to invest so much time into ships that you cant see in the end⊠idkâŠ
Not for me, I can see them during high approaches and for a long time after take off. Definitely more than 3nm
So GAIST works on MSFS 2024?
No it doesnât⊠yet. Henrick has been quite clear heâs still working on FS24
But it doesnât break anything, and if you activate it in 2024 the GAIST models apparently will occasionally show up, but not at all on their proper schedules and routes. (I think they might be replacing default ships somehow.) Hence, it doesnât work, but it does do something. The ways of 2024 are mysteriousâŠ
Henrik and I are testing the new internal version in the next days. He has made great process on the models and optimize them for 2024 Real Time.
Awesome news! Let me know if you want some comparison shots in-game vs Rotterdam Maasvlakte IRL
Has anyone found GAIST to be a possible culprit in FPS degradation on long-haul flights? Just finished a long-haul in the PMDG 777 from RJTT (Tokyo Haneda) to KEWR (Newark) and had about 10 fps less than usual upon my arrival into KEWR.
Restarting the sim at KEWR yielded the frames Iâm used to seeing, so it definitely seemed related to the length of time I was running the sim. The only new addon Iâve been recently running is GAIST.
I love the immersion it adds, but Iâm wondering if the shear amount of ships it potentially adds on long oceanic flights can degrade FPS over time?
I think thereâs a known memory leak related to WASM that is whatâs causing the long-flight FPS issues.
In 2020 as well? 2024 has all kinds of issues, but itâs the first time Iâve noticed the problem in 2020
2024, but I wouldnât be surprised if the same error slipped into 2020 as wellâŠ
Edit: to be a bit more helpful (I hope)⊠I think a number of long flight FPS issues in 2020 were/are possibly related to the sim overloading itself with data (SimObjects, terrain, photogrammetry) to the point where VM kicks in. Having to use VM swaps will crush pretty much any piece of high-performance software. If that is the case, then GAIST would contribute to the issue, as it is basically a bunch of models and textures that get loaded as needed⊠but it wouldnât necessarily be a direct cause. Itâs the totality of the data thatâs the problem in those cases.
I had issues like yours in 2020 in the past, and I found two solutions: (a) if youâre flying long routes, deactivate as many add-ons as you can (really easy if youâre using a mod manager; very time-consuming otherwise), and/or (b) fly over water.
Kai, I know you are also working on AIG. But is it possible to only have Live sea traffic and not air? I would love to use AIG as it has worked the best for me once itâs available and not the live air traffic.
