Nice to see the diversity keeps getting better.
I have an issue where sometimes Cruise ships or Tankers will spawn in odd places basically looking like the end of SPEED 2. New stuff looks great though!
I have today asked for a removal of Global AI Ship Traffic from flightsim.to.
The Premium program and the terms and conditions for creators are not compatible with a freeware package as Global AI Ship Traffic.
We will see whether they will accept to delete because they have removed this basic right from creators who already had packages on the site and this is one of the unacceptable clauses in their terms of service.
You can still find the Global AI Ship Traffic on flyawaysimulation.com and simviation.com. And I strongly suggest you not to download anything from flightsim.to nor to purchase anything until they change their terms of service.
Sorry to hear that. Have you considered talking to FBW? Maybe it could be added to the FBW downloader, just like FSLTL?
I have not done that yet, but we will obviously study different options and we are in talks already with some sites.
ok, good. I would hate going back to the days of good mods being spread out over hundreds of sites.
The deletion was declined by the administrators of Flightsim.to, so there will be no further updates on Flightsim.to. We will launch the Global AI Ship Traffic - Real Time on different sites.
Thatās really poor from them. I remember back in the day I used to get everything from AVSIM.com or Flightsim.com. I have a file up at .to at the moment, so Iāll look into getting that removed. Our own file library is down atm as Iām having some issues with php versions, but if you need somewhere to put things in the mean time, I can put it on a direct link if it helps.
Would you consider keeping a copy of the current ULTRA GAIST for download in the alternate sites - for those of us who donāt want the injector version?
I realize it will be unsupported, but Iām honestly happy with it and the representation of ship traffic in the sim it brings is very frame friendly. Thanks!
Think thatās the plan. Itās always been said that so long as MSFS continues to support the BGL traffic, that version will remain. Itās still up on flyawaysimulation and simvation
we will keep it available in other places eg here on flyawaysimulation:
it is also available on simviation.com and we will look for and have already been offered alternative solutions.
We have already more than 100+ new ships ready so you can look forward to a new upload both with route files and of course the Real Time version. But not on flightsim.to unless they change their terms.
Just to make it clear - I have nothing against Premium Subscriptions, but the combination of a Premium Subscriptions and terms of service which does not allow a creator to remove his content is not acceptable.
Very much not wishing to get into any legal debate here but letās just say that I fully understand your actions here
I personally admire any freeware creator and especially those contributors who put hours, days and sometimes even months of their spare time into providing a product free of charge for the benefit of others.
Thankfully there are a few other upload sites and I will personally be very happy to switch to one of those.
I would like to thank you and your freeware partners for all the effort and time you are putting into this addon
I look forward to downloading your excellent freeware product from one of your newly chosen download sites
No itās just inactive. You cannot delete it. Maybe itās time for some of the largest freeware devs to simply stop uploading and setting all their mods to inactive.
But so far there hadnāt been much of an uproar about the new policy and the subscriptions. I have also seen other fan sites in the past where you had to subscribe to a 3rd party upload service like DDownload or Rapidgator in order to get decent download speeds.
So far I see no resl value in the subscription. My download speeds without are fast enough. As soon as they are not any more, so that an account without subscription is basically worthless, I will certainly consider taking action with my mods. I wonāt accept people getting exploited for my work.
For what itās worth, I have had .to automatically re-enable stuff I had set to disabled/unlisted/whatever, including stuff I had disabled/unlisted long before this new policy. Itās super shady. I have gone as far as āupdatingā my uploads there with garbage files (really, text files explaining the situation) so that the actual content isnāt there anymore.
If you can do that ā doesnāt that solve the problem? So you functionally DO have the ability to remove content notwithstanding the TOS?
I was thinking the same thing. Or add a version check to prevent the mod from working when the sim is updated?
I guess if one did this and .to decided to put back up the old file, then you would really know where they standā¦
At this point itās just a loophole and I expect them to close it sooner or later
It is not deleted - it is temporarily removed⦠They have not deleted anything and they have written that they will not delete.
