It’s trying to set everything up as new. It doesn’t recognize my settings, controllers, etc. I’ve been playing this for over a year on this system and have changed nothing recently. I’ve logged in and out of everything (Xbox, MS Store), restarted Gaming Services, repaired the game, made sure nothing was read only, restarted the PC 1000 freakin times. Between this forum and Reddit I’ve searched and found dozens of posts with suggestions and tried every single one and nothing is working. Found a “workaround” link here that had 4 or 5 CMD item - I ran all of those, no help. I seriously do not want to re-setup all my controllers. I have, as most of you do, about 5 or 6 controller that combined have hundreds of bindings that I’ve spent a year slowly setting up. I literally played this Thursday with no issues. Yesterday morning (Friday) I opened it and got the setup page. I’ve been trying for the last 2 days and have had zero success. Any ideas that I haven’t stumbled across yet?? BTW, this is a MS Store install. Thank you!
If you have not done anything to the FS2020 folders and files:
- Save your UserCfg.opt file.
- Delete your UserCfg.opt file.
- Run FS2020.
- It will assume this is a new install and will install the Launcher on your
C: (boot) drive. (2 GB) - It will display the FS2020 install screen.
- Point to where your “Installed Packages” are.
- It will display what is missing.
- You will need to install what is missing/corrupt.
- After the install is complete, replace the default UserCfg.opt
file with your saved one.
Your controllers/bindings should be saved on the cloud (MS servers).
Man I appreciate the help, but even after that it still prompts me to start setup. Idk. maybe I just have to start over. Should I just reinstall? Maybe it’ll find my controller bindings in the cloud. But regardless, even if I do start over and get it all working again, since I have no idea what caused this, how the heck do I know it won’t just do this again? Frustrating.
If you want it to work, you have no choice but to do the install again
and let it install what is missing/corrupt.
Who knows about the future.
My PC did the same about 2 years ago. I had also tried everything.
I had FS2020 installed on my D: drive.
My final solution was a format to the D: drive and then do a new install
of FS2020.
It has worked fine ever since.
You may only need to download & install the initial 2 GB Launcher
if your “Installed Packages” are good.
Did you lose all of your hours and flights in the logbook, too?
Man everything is gone. I got it working (reinstall). Almost everything pre-existing is gone. Even the custom flight plans I had saved are gone. It wiped that whole User, Appdata, etc, etc …folder. None of it is the end of the world, but I had a crap ton of bush trips that I hadn’t flown yet that I’ll never remember. Lesson learned - either back up all that or use a different folder. But that’s the folder it defaults to when you open a plan. Oddly, the only 2 controller data that were erased were my Vkb Stecs and Gladiator. Everything else I had is still there. Which makes even less sense to me. You’d think it would be all or none. Well - guess I get to do that again this evening. Oh well, shouldn’t take that long. Temped to just use AAO for ALL bindings so this doesn’t happen again. BTW, of course anything in my community folder is fine. Also - I do keep screenshots of my latest graphics settings, so that didn’t take long. The bindings will be the slowest thing.
Well - I have to back up on some of that. My Vkb bindings were actually there. I tried earlier and I swear I didn’t see them, but just now I did and when I tried to scroll there were my custom MSFS bindings. So, other than losing my logbook and flight plan data I came out ok. Just had to reset my settings.
