Game unplayable with Xbox controller on PC since SU5! - Camera drift

I’m truly shocked how Asobo decided to simply remove the old layout and implement a new one, expecting us the adapt to it. Not to mention that , now the aircraft moves left when you tell it to go right. The worst part for me is the plane is uncontrollable , you push the aircraft up , and it won’t budge. And in addition to all of that , there is a giant circle when you click the left thumbstick ,which obstructs the vision. I tried everything. I reset the layout and reinstalled the game and nothing. This feels worse than when the game was released in August , I bought it for the full price of 110$ , and I didn’t expect it to be worse than how it was when it just launched. it is infuriating and I demand Asobo and Microsoft to either revert to how it was or to fix it by other means.

I got all controls to work again by remapping everything.

But vibration is completely gone.

Hi @PancakeAgent, can you share a screenshots of your configuration?

No controller vibration for everyone?

Using dead zones didn’t solve the camera drift problem. I only want to use the controller to control the drone camera, now it’s unusable for me.

I wonder if they tested this at all? It’s mind blowing to me how many of these bugs there are after this update.

as far as i know, camera drift is always caused by controllers.
i do not have the issue.

Yes i know it’s caused by the controller, the title of the topic says it

Xbox Wireless Elite 2 controller works fine for me on PC. Note I reset the controller settings to the (new) defaults.

I have noticed this too. Vibration is also gone for me, though in Menu there is still an option to adjust Controller Vibration.

Deadzones and resets are not fixing all of the controller issues. For me , it’s the “roll” in drone mode. The camera constantly roll’s the left. It rolls left on the drone camera even while in cockpit mode. I just don’t see it until I switch back to drone, and when I do it’s rotated the camera to the left 45 degrees in some cases. Also, when in drone, it will slowly move more and more roll left as I move around with the sticks and triggers. The roll buttons are removed too (RB and LB), I took them off the mapping. Plus they aren’t even capable of sensitivity adjustments, its on-off roll.

The fixes above did indeed fix the cockpit cam constantly moving on me.

Hey Guys,

Just another SU5 nuance here that I’m experiencing, and seeking resolution/advice.

Currently, I’m using a wireless Xbox One controller for my primary flight controls along with the mouse to manage everything else in the cockpit. Due to consistent CTDs, I completely uninstalled and re-installed MSFS yesterday (PITA). I heard people were having good luck with it, so I figured it was worth a shot.

With that being said, MSFS will no longer recognize my controller. I use my Bose A20’s (wireless connection) for audio. I’ve tried every combo of connecting and disconnecting both Bluetooth devices (controller & headset) both in game, in menu, and before opening the MSFS application to try to get the game to recognize the Xbox controller. In my PC settings, it shows both are connecting and disconnecting each time. Nothing was successful within MSFS, but it recognizes the A20s every single time.

Pretty confused here :face_with_raised_eyebrow: I personally hate using my keyboard for primary flight controls, so as it sits today…I still cannot use the sim (per my normal standards, before this SU5 mess).

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

UPDATE: Finally got the controller to connect. Unfortunately, the “floating” in cockpit view still persists. Going to try adjusting the dead zones and see what happens

The first thing you could try is:
Exit the game.
Remove the controller from Windows Settings > Bluetooth.
Then pair the controller again.
Hope it helps.

It didn’t do anything unfortunately. Thanks for the tip! Worth a shot haha.

Hi, this [adding 10% deadzones in the controller sensitivity setting] seems to have fixed my problem and I can again use the Controller with my keyboard, mouse, yoke and throttle, etc. At least on my PC. I’ll try the Xbox X next to see if it works there as well. I’ll figure it out, but will the deadzones set on the PC version carry over to the Xbox X? I think it would, but I don’t know.

Sorry to hear that. Mine works fine since SU5.
Previously this benign operation helped.

Your controller vibrate now?

Had to troubleshoot not getting past loading screen, kept freezing. Took a couple days to figure that out.

Game loads… internal cam pans by itself… scenery generates all over the place all the time…

What the heck man is this like a beta version or what. Wanted to give Microsoft/Asobo the benefit of the doubt but, I’m so over it! This is ridiculous

My controller vibrates no more after the update, whatever I chose Legacy or Lock Mode and Vibration in Accessibilities at max setting. How is yours and other here?

Mine doesn’t vibrate anymore either. Dude so many bugs, what gives?

Hi everyone, this has been logged. The team will review this! Thanks for your feedback.
