Gameplay HUD elements are not displayed (VR)

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

When launching a challenge in VR the race time, the gate counter, and the gate time are frequently missing from the screen at the start of the challenge. The same issue exists for any other HUD elements in the three type of challenges.

This issue occurs across the three challenge types, Landing Challenges, Low Altitude and Rally Races.

The behavior is inconsistent:

  • In some challenges, the HUD is displayed correctly only when launching the challenge for the first time from the main Challenge menu.
  • However, if you use “Restart”, the HUD is never displayed afterward — unless using a manual workaround.

The workaround consist of pressing ESC to display the menu and ESC again to resume the challenge.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue? Yes, the issue remains.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Often on first challenge.
Always after restarting a challenge.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Launch MSFS 2024 in VR (HP Reverb G2).
  2. Start any challenge from the Challenge menu.
  3. The HUD might appear correctly the first time.
  4. Press “Restart” after the challenge ends or by pressing ESC first.
  5. Observe that the HUD is now missing.
  6. Press ESC and ESC again → the HUD appears, but time has already elapsed.

  • CPU: Intel Core i9
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3090
  • Headset: HP Reverb G2
  • Storage: Dedicated 2TB NVMe SSD

This issue is still present since at least May 2025. Is there any one else experiencing this same behavior ?
