Gaming and work setup, need suggestions

Hey guys,

I’m not having issues as I am in need of suggestions. I absolutely love flight simming, and it’s been a big part of my life for years. Recently, covid has hurt my passion for simulation. I have to now use the same computer I use to fly as I use to go to school, and this poses a big issue: how to deal with my yoke, throttle and rudder pedals all while trying to go to class and do homework. I have the same issue when I want to play other PC games, my flight sim setup is in the way! I can’t reach the keyboard and mouse very well, making FPS games almost impossible when I’m not in the mood to fly. I took apart my Logitech yoke, throttle and pedals in replacement for an Extreme3D Pro joystick. It’s much smaller and easier to do other stuff with, but it doesn’t compare to the real deal.

I also really want to play American Truck Simulator, but I only have so much desk space and I’d run into the same issue as with the yoke as with my wheel. What do you guys do? I can’t afford another computer to run different games (obviously) and putting another desk in my room and buying another monitor seems impractical. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a You Tube video of a person in the same predicament as you. He solved it by building a modular desk with all the controls removable when he wants to use it as a normal desk. I cannot find that video BUT this one is similar. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=flight+simulator+desk I hope this helps. I am lucky in that I can have my flight desk assembled all the time in the corner of my living room but I understand this is a luxury for most. Best of luck and if I find the original video I will post it here.

Microsoft Elite Controller & reWASD. I suggest you also put in head tracking. That’s the setup I use. I even do mouse input with the gamepad. I can do everything on the airplane without reaching for keyboard and mouse, and it is as comfortable as it gets. You’re welcome.

If you have room, an extra monitor and a wireless keyboard and mouse combo should get you productive in some limited way. It has worked well for me over the years.
