I had had some odd issues with the auto pilot today. When ROL mode was activated, the airplane started going into a steep left bank. This happened the first time when I was level and activated the AP.
In NAV mode following the GPS, when I was near a waypoint (even if there was no course change) the autopilot would switch into ROL mode and then start the hard bank. It did not do them on all waypoints, just most.
Then when I was activating an ILS approach that I was well lined up for, it started the hard roll to the left again. This was with the LOC activated.
I had performed an AP checklist test on the ground. I’m thinking that may have been the cause for the bank. But if so, that doesn’t explain the mode switch once on GPS NAV.
This only happened on one out of several flights.
Also on 2024 SU4, flying the COWS DA40 with the upgraded G1000 for 2024.
