Garmin now displays flight path boxes

Stepped away from BizJets for a bit and went back to Beech Bonanza, then Baron. When at altitude the Garmin is now showing those irritating magenta flight path boxes. I didn’t set any changes that I’m aware of, I think this is related to the recent MSFS2020 update…

Yes seems to be post SU16. You can clear them, bottom left button, (can’t remember what it’s called because I’m away from the PC). Unfortunately you have to re-clear them each time on loading unless someone has found permanent fix.

That’s a real world Virtual Pathways capability that’s been enabled - it was a good surprise from Working Title because folks had been asking for that and they managed to shoehorn it in.

And to disable it???

Yay! Found it, PFD Options, SVT, Pathways. Too bad it’s not persistent, but it’s solved. Not sure what the attraction is for that feature, some sort of VFR. pure line of sight landings??

It works with NAV and it also gives a virtual glidepath aid for Coupled AP “Visual Approaches.” Very useful for pilots not familiar with the airfield they’re arriving at.

Yeah that’s pathways as Garmin call it. Most other manufacturers call it HITS (highway in the sky). It adds another layer of situational awareness which could be very useful for unfamiliar fields, IMC etc
