The rest of it, color adjustment, video capture, etc is fine but the “optimization” feature is useless as it seems to just go for quantity (more frame rates) vs quality. You’ll be getting more FPS but with very low settings, low quality.
So I’ve used GFE for years with no obvious issues, but after last driver update last week (and simultaneous Win11 patch) I started getting slight stutters every 10-20 seconds, very annoying.
I tried DX11, DX12, rollback of driver, no joy. Then I tried installing the latest driver again but without GFE……no stutter!
I used it for rrecordings, but since i’ve read and noticed that it’s a framekiller, i’ve uninstalled it. And as a matter of fact, it was. So, very happy i got rid of it, but a bit sad that i can’t record anymore
The best option is a clean install of only the latest Nvidia game driver whitout all the extra rubbish. Better do the Nvidia configuration setting manualy.
I always download the latest driver from the Nvidia website and install only the driver.
I’ve had bad experiences with GE in the past, like performance issues and visual degradation.
Recently I read about the latest version which should have coped with most of these problems.
As I have an average system I can’t / won’t use any applications that could degrade my performance or visuals.
I installed the latest version using NVCleanstall. I also installed the most recent Nvidia Driver this way and I must say there’s no loss in performance in my case. FS2020 runs stutter-free and looks more realistic as I tuned my colors settings to my liking.
Geforce-Experience seems to be very system independent and has different effects on individual systems. I hope future versions will be more consistent.
It’s not specialy necessary to use clean install.
You can delete (uninstall) Geforce Experience first and then install the stand alone new Nvidia driver. Geforce Experience has run things in the backgroud that slowdown your performance and can cause stutters.
This point was tested intensively on my side few months ago. Pure graphic drivers versus the whole Geforce Experience package. My conclusion was, on my machine, both are equals and I wasn’t able to catch any lost of fps or any difference in GPU usage. This was without Nvidia overlay displayed. With it, it’s so negligible that’s it land in the error margin. Nvidia made a good job here.
Are there any benchmark numbers available for the recently-released current or prior GeoForce Experience? (I am concerned about background processes causing stutters. I’ve removed a lot of non-MSFS startup apps and services to improve things and I still have over 175+ background processing running all the time. I also checked the Windows scheduler because Windows would start programs during flights.)
I wanted to try the GeForce Experience but when I installed it MSFS shows up on the list but first it said “can’t retrieve settings, try again later” and then it says “can’t optimize game”. I uninstalled the latest driver and reinstalled and no change. A Google search shows I am not the only one having this issue and many ways to try and fix the issue are listed but I have tried everything I could find with no luck. Anybody else here have the same problem and what did you do to actually resolve it? TIA.
